  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Department of Justice is "Proud" of Erasing J6 convictions from its website

For me as a disciple of Jesus Christ... It's definitely played out... Be blessed!
It never played in as far as you were concerned. And I reckon that's because of the rock and hard place options I just gave. It's impossible to support it but you cannot be seen to fault it.

It's par for the course for a lot of Trump supporters these day. They'll ignore problems for the reasons given, or they change the subject (look over there! A pigeon!). Your posts are an excellent example.

How it it possible for some people to get to a point where they feel incapable of giving an honest assessment when it comes to politics? How do they reach a position where they are literally incapable of pointing out the faults in those they support? You can consider those to be hypothetical questions because you certainly won't address them. Just as you won't address the op.

Which raises the final hypothetical. Why involve yourself in a thread if you don't want to discuss the topic?

The ones who actually defaced property and who attacked A police officer were right to be charged.
So you consider their convictions justified. And their pardons a travesty of justice. But, just to get back to the topic, what do you think about the details of those persons convictions being removed from the DoJ website?

I deleted my post since it wasn’t on-topic, but to answer your question - The ones who didn’t actually commit any crimes, it right that they should be erased.

Well, we don't get to decide who we consider to be criminals. And the DoJ cannot make that call either. But at least you agree that it was wrong to completely delete it.

And let's not derail the thread by getting into the weeds about who of the 1,500 people convicted should be considered guilty or not.

It's real simple man. They are all guilty. That is why they were convicted.

1500 people being jailed when only one injury occurred (well two, but the one who actually murdered someone was let off scott-free) and some misdemeanor defacing was done by a handful of people, who did absolutely nothing besides walk around “the people’s building” is quite a tragic error that the Biden administration perpetrated (well, me using the word “error” is generous when what they did was destroy people’s lives.). I’m sure hoping I don’t see you all complaining anymore about the people who riot over future ICE operations and the trouble they get themselves into since y’all seem to be A-OK with over-the-top policing and revenge.

1. There weren't 1500 people "jailed". 1500 were convicted. Many got probation or fines for their minor crimes.
2. There were over 100 people injured, some very seriously.
3. The whole thing was a wrapper around Trump's coup against the United States to gain a presidency he had not been elected to.

That's far from the truth. Multiple people were convicted of assaulting multiple law enforcement officers. Many J6 tourists did not get any jail time.

The over prosecution and excessive punishment of most jan 6 protestors is something that shouldn't have taken place.
Even if true, it *did* take place, and these facts should not be memory-holed.

The Department of Justice explicitly stated it removed the January 6 news releases because it considers them to be partisan propaganda - TIME

1500 people being jailed...
As has already been pointed out, that is simply wrong. And as I mentioned earlier, what you consider to be the correct number of people convicted for offenses comitted on Jan 6 is irrelevant.

You have already agreed that the complete removal of the details of the convictions from the DoJ's website was wrong.

I'm not the slightest bit interested in discussing whether you think some of them deserved the convictions or not. That's not what the thread is about.

Their convictions are facts.

One tiny detail: The DOJ didn't convict any of them. Not a single one.

Many pled guilty.
Acceptance of the blanket pardon issue by the incumbent President, also acknowledged their own culpability.

Is it your position the DOJ is impartial now and not weaponised?

The DOJ has deleted hundreds of public press releases and case updates tracking the arrests, charges, and convictions of J6 defendants from its official website. The DOJ has dominion over their own website.
