  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good book on The Holy Spirit?

I'm looking for a good book on Pneumatology that will open up my eyes more than they are, easy to understand and effective ways to access the spirit within you. Right now I'm looking at The God I Never Knew by Robert Morris. Any suggestions?

Some books seems to speak either about the spirits moving them, but that is not the same as the Holy Spirit. Others think that the Holy Spirit, is just another Gods, out of three Gods, who is so separate from other gods, that one should focus primarily on Him. Not many are able to acknowledge that it is the Lord Jesus Christ who send it, as He breathed on the disciple, and so it is not kind of another God, but is the very Divine Proceeding from the Lord God Jesus Christ (and Father in Him).

Jesus mentioned to his Disciples after his return that he was leaving them with the Holy Spirit.

Tell me Proximus, are you a Oneness Pentecostal? I ask because you appear to deny the person and deity of the Holy Spirit and conflate the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ?

It seems like you may have partly misunderstood my position. I do not deny the Divinity of the Holy Spirit. My position is that the Holy Spirit is not another separate God, which one or two other Gods send on errands, or communicate certain written letters. But that the Holy is that which the Lord Jesus Christ sends (out of the Father in Him), so the Holy Spirit is the Divine which proceeds from the Lord (and the Father). I understood the ancient term persona rather as the Divine Attribute (not a mask) of the One Lord and God. So, in my idea there is one God, not three Gods, and the Trinity is in the Lord, not outside of Him. Not sure what exactly the Pentecostals believe, and whether they place the Trinity in the Lord God Jesus Christ.
So, as I may see, there are different ways to understand the Trinity in the Word. One way - strictly literally, according to the apparances of the Old Testament, where it appears that there are distinct separate persons, each of whom is God. Or otherwise, more spiritually, according to the letter understood, when the Trinity is in the Lord, and the one who sees and accepts the Son, accepts the Father, and the Holy Spirit, when he lives according to the Lord's Commandments of faith and charity.

There is The Foundations of Christian Doctrine by Kevin J Connor. And Derek Prince wrote a short simple book on Him. I like best, for the get into Him yourself books by Guy Chevreau, Catch the Fire and Pray with Fire. A mix of church history, experiences, advice, testimonies and after reading you may find yourself hungry and being filled at church.

There is also Power Evangelism by John Wimber and Moving in the Spirit by Phil Pringle. There is More by Randy Clark and Lighting Fires.

Reinhard Bonnke wrote Evangelism by Fire, demonstrating making tens of millions of converts with his team. The Blood of Jesus, Fire of God, Healing, worship. And Benny Hinn wrote some books, although not everyone likes him.

The subjective truth can be a wonderful being lost in the anointing experience, God's thick presence. Having someone 'read your mail'.
