  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump admin. concedes Maryland man from El Salvador was mistakenly deported/sent to mega prison - shrugs 'nothing can be done' [ETA: oh but it can!]

Yup. That's the only thing that happened here. Just another wrongful conviction with nothing else making the case out of the ordinary .

You've just proven me right. The legal system goes bad concerning other individuals and you couldn't care less about those people and their circumstances.

What fallacy is this? It seems like a strawman since you are mischaractizing my claims to draw the conclusion you desire, but it also seems like a distraction since it ignores the distinctions I drew. Hmmm... anyone?

Legal bungling happens to white full-fledged US citizens on a yearly basis. So there's really nothing special about this.
How many of these victims of bungling are personally and publicly vilified by the President of the US and the head of DHS?

President Donald Trump responded to the sudden return of Salvadoran illegal and alleged gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, saying, "he’s a bad guy" and that the courts will "show how horrible this guy is."

Trump expressed confidence in the DOJ and its case against Abrego Garcia.

"The DOJ made a decision," he said, adding, "I think their decisions have been very, very good."

[They were not very good.]

“This morning, I joined CBS to report the facts about Kilmar Abrego Garcia,”– Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement.

“This individual was a known human smuggler, MS-13 gang member, an individual who was a wife beater, and someone who was um so perverted that he solicited nude photos from minors."

Not many if any are made into a poster child like Garcia was.

You mean ignoring the reality that US citizens are wrongfully convicted and put through false imprisonment and all kinds of grief? Most likely nobody reading this knows who they are or has given them a second thought. Because they don't really care. Because there's no politics involved in those cases.

...back to playing the white victim card I see.

The problem of rogue political judges is a topic in itself. So many Obama and Biden appointed judges have made bad decisions that were overruled by higher courts.
You seem to oppose so many judges that Trump appointed, too.

That's a really senseless conclusion. The point is most everyone, even white full fledged US citizens experience it, not just poor Kilmar. Who was let off on a technicality.

We should ignore injustices because other injustices also occur?

Many have been Trump appointees.

Heavy caseloads, regrets and surprises: 5 judges who embody the courts’ rebuke of Trump’s ICE detentions

Judges have overwhelmingly rejected the administration’s new policy.

Is it senseless? When is the last time a "full-fledged" (whatever that is) US citizen was thrown on a plane and sent to a prison in El Salvador?

Many people are wrongfully prosecuted and wrongfully imprisoned. Along those lines there's nothing special about Garcia's case. If it was even wrongful considering that Garcia only got cut loose on a technicality.

What was special about Garcia's case is that HS flouted direct judicial orders, several times. We paid to have him held in a brutal concentration camp which is an outrageous punishment for a immigration violation. Then, after we got him back, the Trump admin tried to hustle him out without due process. The president himself told lies about him while making a fool of himself in the Terry Moran interview.

The technicality is gross prosecutorial misconduct, vindictive and selective, besides the charges having no real change of holding.

And he is not out of the woods yet re immigration status.
