  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh boo-hoo... A guy who actually stands up to terrorists, and politically correct foreigners who feel entitled to take advantage of America. We don't want more laws, more appeasement, more schools brainwashing kids with wild, sexualized ideologies, or twisting people's arms into conformity. Maybe put up some more red light cameras and raise fuel taxes to take more money out of the hands of working people, eh? How about allow endless illegal immigrantion from all over the world, even allowing foreign gang members like tren de aragua to roam the streets, to steal our belongings, and kill our citizens, only to be rewarded with multiple "sanctuary cities" to hide out in, and eventually destroy.. How about do nothing while fentanyl floods the streets. How about we shame entire segments of the population, like middle aged white men, or just men in general. We haven't forgotten where we were before Trump came in...

That's the alternative. We know exactly what the alternatives are, and returning back to all that is no good for us. We've had enough of those kinds of policies.
This is actually super sad. It reads as if you were to conditioned via fear and hysteria to blame one group of people for everything wrong in your life. What a awful way to live.

To me, this sounds like you not really knowing what socialism is.
Nobody knows what socialism is. I say it's a make-believe abstraction of thought's based on anti-capitalist sentiment.

Capitalism has existed for millenia, while "socialism" as a philosophy of anti-capitalism, has been shaped, and reshaped, over and over again in people's minds for about 200 years.

It's made of the same stuff rainbows are made of. You can't catch it, sample it, or test it, because it's just a word, that has no true meaning.

There is a bunker there already.
Yeah, between the cobwebs somewhere, made up of cracking, crumbling concrete walls.

It was deemed outdated and was dismantled in late 2025/early 2026

Plenty of people know what it is. Don’t confuse your not knowing for everybody not knowing.
Nobody knows. Otherwise it could be explained. But the fact is, it's an evolving term that changes all the time, and is an umbrella term for dozens of different sub-branches.

...There is no single definition for socialism, except that it's a general umbrella term for many different things.

Socialism has a lot in common with astrology. Both are baloney concepts based in fantasy.

It's very simple. Keep your physical identification card on hand, and keep digital copies of all your immigration documents on your cell phone.

...Then, you will never get detained.
Then no immigrant should ever be accosted at a courthouse when they show up for their immigration check-in. Such an immigrant is going to be documented and the judge is going to have a copy of that documentation sitting on the bench, so no one has any cause to interfere with the business of that court.

Yes, strengthening the Middle Class is ONE of their goals, as you said. And, yes, helping the poor is their main focus.
I think both parties have done a poor job about this problem. Inequality is ever increasing. My be we should give a Libertarian a try.

America is a crazy place.

Imagine living in a country where a "significant" portion of the population votes against their own self interest because they HATE the idea of their tax dollars being used to help other people. Even if they themselves would BENEFIT.

Nuts-Oh.

To be fair, thus far, the old guard Democrats barely fought for those things in the OP.

My mom lived in Canada for 30 years before she became a Canadian citizen.

I giggle at the idea of us living in a country where she could live for 29 years her countrymen would argue she SHOULD be deported if she doesn't carry her immigration documents with her.

When mom finally decided to become a Canadian citizen, she had been doing too much relief work in Africa and she couldn't meet the residency requirements. So for 3 years, she paused that work. Then got her Citizenship. A couple years later she got the Governor General's award for her relief work. Canada was proud of her; as they should have been.

Literally nothing in her life changed other than she could vote and a bunch of knuckle draggers trusted her because she has a certain kind of paper.

A piece of paper doesn't validate a human's existence and you should stop talking like it does.

Ok but that is NOT true.

What we have is a LOT of people not using the term correctly. A LOT! Your confusion over the definition comes from your belief in what they are saying and what they are describing as "Socialism"...which very very often, it is not.

And so you look with your eyes and you take their opinion that it is socialism and you get confused, thinking there are many definitions.
There is not.

There are a few good definitions.

But you are getting your information from liars if there is any REAL obfuscation of the definition.

Sanders has been a democratic socialist for many years. He has often argued for its principles. His views are very different from those on the far left of the Democratic Party (think NYC). Sanders has been on the ballot as a Socialist. If one looks at the Socialist Party platform of 1912 one would see many of the policies of Democratic Socialism taken for granted in the US and in much of Europe.

Democratic Socialism is hardly a fantasy. I well understand that this view won't get a majority of US voters behind it, but it does work well in the Scandinavian countries. And there are very high taxes, market economies and much more services guaranteed by the government.

Nobody is interfering... If the judge terminates an immigrants case at a court check-in appointment, and ICE detains that immigrant at the courtroom exit, and then deports them, that means that the US government has acted within the law, and made a decision that it is being carried out.

If anyone wants to change the law, they should try and pass legislation.

Nah, there's at least 20 different 'kinds' of socialism. To claim: I know what socialism is, is a real example of the Dunning-Kruger effect, unless you can accurately describe exactly which branch of socialism youre talking about.

Communism is another branch of socialism... But you can't sit there and claim to know the true definition of "Socialism", just because you like Democratic Socialism, which is a definable term.

Socialism still has a broad, commonly held definition.

Republican representatives are the ones misusing the broad label; or at least attempting to demonize things that would improve the lives of Americans.

There's a famous quote about that....everything that helps the workers is socialism.

Not commonly held. There's way too many interpretations, and the sub-branches vary way too much.

I would actually they work to keep America safe instead of just beefing up numbers of "Easy tags" because their adminstration needs certain numbers...even if that means arresting people with no violent criminal charges (or usually, ANY charges).

It's hard to get to the real facts, because we keep hearing stories of anecdotal evidence, of this or that person's testimony on the internet, or on NPR, but as far as actual statistics, on how many immigrants are actually being deported for absolutely bogus reasons, like filling a deportation quota, we don't see the actual data in statistical format.

...So it's hard to stand up for or against something we're not totally sure of, without reliable statistics. And the lack of statistics, also, makes me question the validity of the claims.
