  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have physical limitations that are progressive, come and go, but gradually get worse. I also have mental health disorders that are a hindrance in my life. I don't have a psychologist or psychiatrist at this time, and do not have insurance currently.

My problems are making it difficult for me to continue working in the field that I am in now. So, I am taking a bookkeeping class and also trying to learn how to become a virtual assistant. This can keep me working without any physical activity and could keep me away from crowded workplaces that can be triggering for me emotionally.

I have a young adult child who also struggles and we want to move to another state where things are better jobwise and for insurance and health care.

Please pray that I can get training and work that will be beneficial for me and allow us to move away.

The psychological clinic ended up not working out for me. So I am still without a therapist.

On the bright side, my kid got a temporary job in a warehouse. It is full time and pays a higher wage than usual. If they want to keep my kid on, it could become permanent or be recurring as needed.

Gracious Heavenly Father,
Please guide this one to the therapy that You would want them to have. Please help them to acquire health insurance that they can afford to deal with their health problems both physical and mental. Help them with their plan to change careers and please provide for them and their child. Guide them with Your wisdom as they manage all of this complexity.
In Christ’s Name,
Amen

(I have benefited more from coaching and supplements than therapy - kept getting kicked out of therapy for wanting to solve problems and get things done. Coaching I’ve found to be less expensive.)

Have you applied for disability?

No. That's not something I'm going to be doing unless my condition get significantly worse.

In order to qualify for disability benefits, you can't be able to work at all for an extended period of time. That would be financially devastating. We would be homeless, lose our vehicle.

Once a person has qualified for benefits, they are restricted to living at a poverty level. They can begin to work, but the amount of income they can earn is limited before losing benefits. Transitioning from reliance on benefits and earning a decent living is difficult because there is a gap between losing benefits and earning enough to make it without financial assistance and to thrive without help. It keeps people who could improve their situation trapped in poverty.

Also, being without work is horrible for my mental health. I spiral into deep depression and anxiety.

So, I won't ever apply for disability benefits unless I am in a situation where I literally cannot work at all.
