  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Two requests for the Sabbaterians at CF

Rest from Spiritual work??? Show me the verse that explains this? or is this another one of your inventions from your corrupted Bibles or Catechism maybe?
Was God physically tired? Do you think God finished creation and brewed some lemonade and sat down in His recliner because He was physically tired? Is God all powerful in your sects beliefs?

I didn't write the verse. Now you change the course. You asked for Biblical proof of a 7 day rest before Moses and I gave it to you just as clear as day. What a whiner. Go back to your historical dissertations.

You interpret the verse.
Now you change the course.
Change to what?
You asked for Biblical proof of a 7 day rest before Moses and I gave it to you just as clear as day.
Which one? Maybe repeat it because I missed it.

Historical dissertations? Do you even know what that means?

Go to Genesis 2 and find where God rested on the 7th day. That is a Sabbath. You know where Genesis is, right?

I like you since you have a sense of humor but your theology is a whole different matter. Go to Gen.2 and find where God rested spiritually from His work of creation but did not command man to keep the day. You can point to the command, can you?

Now to those who judge those that rest on Sunday and consider them sinners I have two requests for you.
The thread tanks right there

But if we are allowed to ignore the self-tanking nature of the OP and look at the two statements below....
1. Please Post biblical evidence that anyone kept the sabbath prior to Moses.

2. Please post a verse from the new covenant that teaches that the Christian is required to rest on Saturday.

Please keep the discussion on topic to the OP.
1 Sabbath prior to Moses is found in the Sabbath commandment of Ex 20:11 where it directly references Gen 2:2-3, the point when the Sabbath was sanctified and made Holy , a day of holy convocation for mankind

Unlike the command "do not take God's name in vain" Ex 20:7 which is no such Gen 2 reference point in it, yet is valid all the same.

2. Start by actually quoting the New Covenant if you want to see the Law of God written on the heart from the very start of the Jer 31:31-34 New Covenent (as quoted in Heb 8.

The Sabbath Commandment points directly to Gen 2:2-3 in Ex 20:11 the point remains

Nope. Nothing in Gen.2 supports your theory including the fact that Exodus 20:11 is only given to Israel.

Nothing here about a verse that proves the positive claim that people kept the sabbath before Moses. Just one verse Bob. That’s all you need is just one verse that shows that anyone kept the sabbath before Moses.

hint: for those who actually read the New Covenant in Jer 31:31-34 and Heb 8... it is only made with Israel.

So it covers all saved people in all ages unless you want to make the case that only Jews are under the New Covenant.,

Secondly.. you need to actually read Gen 2:2-3 and Ex 20:11 to refute the details I bring out about those two texts. Feel free to give it a try.
Both are written by Moses and the commandment in Ex 20 goes directly to "The making" that we see in Gen 2

Yep. Hint: The new covenant for the Christian is depicted in Luke 22:20.

The church is not Israel so it doesn’t cover the church. You keep missing the grammar. Here let’s read.

“For in finding fault with the people, He says, “Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, When I will bring about a new covenant With the house of Israel and the house of Judah,”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭8‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Oh look it says that the days are coming. That means that the days have not yet arrived. Oh look, it says that this covenant that has not yet arrived is with the house if Israel and the house of Judah. For those that follow sola scriptura this would be rather plain since in the church there is no Jew nor Greek (Gal. 3:28). But for legalists…..
Secondly.. you need to actually read Gen 2:2-3 and Ex 20:11 to refute the details I bring out about those two texts. Feel free to give it a try.
I have read them and am yet to find the commandment in Gen 2 requiring people to keep the sabbath. On the other hand, Exodus 20:11 requires Israel to keep the new sabbath given to Israel for the first time in Exodus 16. It should be too hard to read.

The New Covenant is still in the future. Do you know what constitutes those 2 houses?

Hi Bob, can you show where is "mankind" in Ex 20:11? Also, where is the command for the Sabbath in Gen 2:2

I bet you if the Gentiles didn't have the Torah (ie old testament in our Bible today) we would never know about the 7th day commandment..

I disagree! The New covenant has already here, institute by the blood of Christ..(A covenant cannot established without shedding of blood).

Read Heb 9

Read 1 Kings 11. The split took place in 931 BC. Almost 2960 year ago.
The new covenant promised in Jeremiah for the two houses is a future covenant not the present covenant or any of the past covenants.

Rom 10:6-8; Deut 29:1, 30:6;10-14 say different.
