• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because a monarchical republic is like the living dead. They are opposite things.
You know I just hate chaining the word republic down like that. It seems so useless.

I think some linguistic experts must agree with me, while some literalists would probably agree with you. See the following link:

Crowned republic - Wikipedia

...But I like my way better, because taking the term republic back to "public thing", makes it easier to identify fraudsters like Iran from pretending they're somehow legit. That makes the word useful again, instead of keeping it useless and archaic.

So we have consentrated a great deal of our military assets in on region. If China makes a grab for Taiwan I guess they can take it.
Europe, Australia and Canada would surely stand in the way of that. Wouldn't they?

UK Deploys Warship to Middle East With Eye on Potential Hormuz Mission

...I say we let the British into the Strait, and once they're in, fire a few shots at Iran, and leave them there. Alone.
So, intentionally prove everyone not to trust you? Well, that does check out. And is a little bit too late, it's kinda gotten to that point already. Are you ok though?

Would we expect them to protect our interests?
Oh yeah, I forgot that Europe, Canada and Australia don't care about supporting democracy abroad, and they also don't care if China taking Taiwan paves the way for Japan and the Phillipines to be the next democracies threatened by China.

If they don't care about protecting democracy, then why should we care?

The United States is hardly considered a democracy anyways, compared to most Northern European countries. Since they're the leaders, they should take the lead.

Because you're the ones with the military partnership with Taiwan?

Edit: besides the navy intentionally made to project power in that particular part of the world, created as such to maintain the economic benefits of being a superpower.

Our partnership entails providing them with weapons. Sure. So what?

Aside from providing weapons, you think we're bound to anyone any more than your Finland is? If Russia wanted to take over Finland, I would just let them.

Handing out weapons and then walking away sounds a lot like how the Afghanistan “deal” worked out, for a previous administration, no?
