  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Twelve years if you count all of the thread splits - this has to be the world record for the longest soiree ever.

Crazy to think all of the life stages I've lived through in that time. Ups, downs, career changes, projects, travelling the world multiple times, seeing through self-isolation (not limited to 2020 - I was a beef/dairy farmer in my 20s) all the way through to settling down and getting married (Well, will be in just a couple of months.)

You don't think about it when you sign up for the forum, but it's been a constant companion through all of the adventures. I could literally write a book on my stories here - all of them good now when I look back, even the arguments with trolls.

The melancholy only seeps in when I think of all of the real life encounters that could have come to fruition but didn't. With like-minded people who I'll now never meet.

Goodness, so this thread and existence of Jimmy Ps funhouse has been around for a bit...

I THINK I started it around my birthday 2014...

I was 45, my son was 10, and since beginning the place here, lost my step father in 2017, lost Mom 2020...lost other family members and friends...
Now my boy is 22, completing his 4th yr of college, he's doing video game design...wife and I have been together for 26 yrs...

Have seen quite a few changes...

I'm thankful for all the folks that still stop in here...
Happy Day folks...

I remember seeing this thread back in 2014.
It's good it is still going.
2014, that's the year when I resigned from my government job, it's the 1st time I ever resigned from any job.
I always tried to stay as long as I could.

I regretted that decision very very very very much.
