  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why does the Church insist on devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary?

This video presents the doctrine as it is taught in traditional Catholic theology: Mary is not an addition to the faith, but part of the order God has established for the salvation of souls.

From eternity, God willed the Incarnation. In that same decree, He chose the Virgin Mary to be the Mother of the Redeemer. Through her, the Word was made flesh. Through that Incarnation, redemption entered the world.

Christ alone is the Mediator. Yet in His wisdom, He established an order in which His grace is given. Within that order, the Church recognizes the real and subordinate role of Mary as Mediatrix.

The saints speak with one voice. Tradition bears witness. The structure of salvation is not random—it is ordered.

To neglect Mary is not to reject Christ directly, but it is to set aside a help He Himself has given.

This truth is hard, but it is merciful.

May 2nd, Day 2: You’ve Misunderstood the Immaculate Conception

Many Catholics misunderstand the Immaculate Conception. This doctrine does not refer to Christ’s conception, but to the Blessed Virgin Mary being preserved from original sin from the first moment of her existence, by the grace of God in view of the merits of Jesus Christ. Learn what the Church truly teaches, and why this truth matters for your understanding of sin, grace, and redemption.

May 3rd, Day 3: Before Christ Came, God Sent Her First - The Nativity of Mary

Before Christ came, God sent Mary first.
Her birth is not only an event in history, but the beginning of our salvation.

In silence and obscurity, God prepared the coming of the Savior through her.
What seems hidden is often where grace begins.

This truth is hard, but it is merciful.

May 4th, Day 4: Most Catholics Hold Something Back — Mary Didn’t

Many Catholics give something to God—but not everything.
Mary held nothing back. From her youth, she was wholly offered to God, a perfect model of total consecration.

This Short confronts the divided heart and calls the soul to complete surrender. What is not given cannot be transformed.

Learn to belong entirely to God through Our Lady.

May 5th, Day 5: The Humility of Mary Will Expose Your Pride

Mary was exalted above all creatures, yet chose to remain hidden.
Her humility was not weakness, but truth before God.

This Short reveals the quiet pride that seeks recognition—and the path to true humility through the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Learn to desire not to be seen, but to be faithful.
This truth is hard, but it is merciful.

May 6th, Day 6: God Waited for Her Yes — And Became Man

God waited for a free “yes.”
At the Annunciation, the Blessed Virgin Mary consented, and at that moment, the Word was made flesh.

This is not poetry. This is doctrine.
God willed to enter the world through her obedience.

Learn what true surrender to God means through Mary’s Fiat.

May 7th, Day 7: God Became Man, Most Catholics Forgot What This Means

The eternal Son of God truly became man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Incarnation is not a symbol, nor a poetic story. Jesus Christ is true God and true Man, united in one divine Person. Through the Blessed Virgin Mary, God entered human history to redeem fallen souls.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” — John 1:14

This is Day 7 of our Month of Mary Devotion from Excerpta Catechismi.

O Mary, lead us closer to Jesus.

May 8th, Day 8: When Mary Arrived, Grace Entered the House

When the Blessed Virgin Mary entered the house of Elizabeth, she did not come alone. Hidden within her womb was the Eternal Son of God made Man. Through Mary’s greeting, Saint John the Baptist was sanctified before birth, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.

The Visitation is not merely a lesson about kindness or emotional comfort. It is a profound mystery of sanctifying grace. Mary carried Christ into that home, and grace entered with Him.

True charity is supernatural. It does not merely carry ourselves, our opinions, or our emotions. True charity carries Christ into souls through holiness, prayer, sacrifice, and truth.

“O Mary, make me an instrument of grace.”

May 9th, Day 9: The Forgotten Meaning of Christmas — God Was Born in a Stable

The eternal Son of God entered the world not through earthly glory, but through poverty, silence, and humility.

In Bethlehem, the Blessed Virgin Mary truly gave birth to Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. The Child lying in the manger is the Creator of Heaven and Earth made visible for the salvation of souls.

This Short is a contemplative meditation on the Nativity of Our Lord according to traditional Catholic teaching, rooted in Sacred Scripture and reverence before the mystery of the Incarnation.

O Mary, help us to receive Jesus worthily.

May 10th, Day 10: Mary Held God in Her Arms — And Still Trembled Before Him

Mary held the Infant Jesus in her arms, yet she still trembled before Him in adoration.

Bethlehem was not sentimental softness. It was holy ground.

The Child in the manger was truly God made flesh, worthy of worship even in infancy. The Blessed Virgin Mary teaches Catholics how to recover reverence, silence, and awe before the divine presence.

May this meditation help souls rediscover Eucharistic reverence through the humility and adoration of Our Lady.

“O Mary, teach me reverence.”

May 11th, Day 11: She Was Sinless… Yet She Still Obeyed

Though the Blessed Virgin Mary was immaculate and free from all sin, she still submitted herself to the Law with perfect humility.

In the mystery of the Purification, the Church teaches us that true holiness does not seek exemption, privilege, or recognition. Mary obeyed because she loved the will of God completely.

May Our Lady teach us humility, obedience, and silent fidelity to Christ.

May 12th, Day 12: Even the Holy Family Suffered Fear and Exile

Even the Holy Family was not spared suffering, fear, exile, and uncertainty.

The Flight into Egypt teaches that holiness does not remove the Cross. Mary and Joseph protected the Christ Child through danger and hardship while trusting completely in the providence of God.

This mystery reminds us that trials do not mean God has abandoned us. Sometimes He permits suffering to purify, strengthen, and sanctify the soul.

Matthew 2:13–15

Day 13: Most of Jesus’ Life Was Hidden — And That Changes Everything

Most of the earthly life of Jesus Christ was hidden in Nazareth.
In silence, obedience, labor, prayer, and ordinary daily duties, the Holy Family sanctified hidden life before God.

This short reflection from our Month of Mary Devotion explores the forgotten holiness of ordinary fidelity, and why hiddenness is not insignificance before Heaven.

“O Mary, sanctify my daily work.”

Day 14: Have You Lost Christ Without Realizing It? Finding Jesus in the Temple

Mary and Joseph searched sorrowfully for Jesus for three days after He remained behind in the Temple. This mystery is not merely a story of loss, but a warning to every soul.

Sin separates the soul from Christ.
Neglect weakens devotion.
Distraction cools the love of God.

But the soul that seeks Christ with repentance, perseverance, and humility may still find Him again.

Luke 2:41–52
“O Mary, help me never lose Him through sin.”

Ave Maria.

Day 15: Why Mary Believed When Everything Went Dark

Many souls lose faith when consolation disappears. But the Blessed Virgin Mary remained faithful even in darkness, suffering, and uncertainty.

In this Month of Mary devotion, learn the true meaning of supernatural faith through the example of the Mother of God. Mary believed because God had spoken, not because she fully understood everything she endured.

May Our Lady teach us to persevere faithfully even when prayer feels dry and Heaven seems silent.

Ave Maria.

Day 16: Most People Confuse Love With Emotion, Mary Did Not

Most people today confuse love with emotion, comfort, or personal satisfaction. But the Blessed Virgin Mary teaches something far deeper. True charity is supernatural love rooted in God Himself.

Mary loved God above all things. She served souls through sacrifice, fidelity, humility, and suffering. Her charity was not sentimental emotion, but a theological virtue flowing from divine truth.

In this Day 16 meditation of our Month of Mary Devotion, learn how Our Lady reveals the true meaning of charity, and why authentic love always seeks holiness and salvation.

“O Mary, inflame my heart with love.”

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Hail Mary, Mother most pure.
Hail Mary, lead us always to God.

Day 17: Why Most Souls Resist God’s Will, But Mary Never Did

Most souls resist God when obedience becomes difficult.

The Blessed Virgin Mary never did.

From the Annunciation to Calvary, Mary surrendered herself entirely to the will of God, even through suffering, uncertainty, and sacrifice. Her Fiat was not weakness. It was perfect love and total trust in divine authority.

This Short teaches why holiness begins only when the soul stops resisting God’s will.

“O Mary, help me obey without resistance.”
