  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:15-20 NASB1995)

A prophet, in the Scriptures, was someone who proclaimed the words of God to the people. They were God’s spokesmen (and spokeswomen) who spoke God’s messages to the people. Many people, though, think of prophets merely as those who do future telling. But to prophesy is also forthtelling which has to do with speaking God’s messages to the people. And we read in Acts 2 about Joel who prophesied that in the last days God’s daughters and sons (female and male) would prophesy, dream dreams, and see visions.

So, to prophesy, in the sense of forthtelling (speaking God’s messages), is basically to preach or to teach the Scriptures in a way that is applicable to our world and to our lives today. It is proclaiming the Word of God from the Scriptures in very practical ways which relate to where we are today as a society, as the church (the body of Christ), and as the people of the world from many different nations. And to prophesy is to speak to people for their edification and exhortation and consolation (see 1 Corinthians 14:3).

All of us who are of Christ are called of God to proclaim the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. All of us have been gifted of God with Spiritual gifts, and we have been given our “body part” assignments by God. And we are to be speaking the truth of God’s word to one another in love so that we are not led astray by the cunning and craftiness of false prophets (preachers) in their deceitful scheming. We all are to be exhorting one another daily so none of us are deceived with lies.

[Matthew 5:13-16; Matthew 28:18-20; John 4:31-38; John 13:13-17; John 14:12; Acts 1:8; Acts 26:18; Romans 10:14-15; Ephesians 2:10; Ephesians 5:11-14; 1 Peter 2:9,21; 1 John 2:6]

But we all need to be on our guard against those who preach and teach and prophesy what is not of God, but is of the flesh of humans, who devise their own gospel message to be less offensive to the ungodly and to human flesh and to be more attractive and appealing to the world, as a whole. They are those who secretly devise lies, disguised as truth, in order to deceive and to lead many people astray. And some or many of these false prophets (preachers, teachers, evangelists) are very popular among the people.

So, we who proclaim faith in Jesus Christ are to beware of false prophets, preachers, teachers, and evangelists, and anyone proclaiming to be sharing the truth of the gospel of Christ, which includes all people who may be spreading lies disguised as truth. I don’t care what name they go by or who they are related to, or what kind of position they hold in society, or within the gatherings of the church, we are to test them all! We are to pay close attention to the words they speak and the things that they do.

For so many of them come to us in “sheep’s clothing,” i.e. disguising themselves as believers in Jesus Christ who are faithful in service to the Lord who are teaching us the truth of what Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught us in the Scriptures. But secretly they are plotting evil against us, and they are teaching us lies, and their purpose is to deceive and to lead us astray so we will follow the lies and not the truth. And what they spread is misinformation in order to bait us into rejecting the truth of the gospel.

Just Are You

Based off Revelation 15-16
An Original Work / August 26, 2013
Christ’s Free Servant, Sue J Love

Great and marvelous are Your deeds, O God.
Just and true Your ways, King of all the earth.
Who will not fear You; glorify Your name?
You are righteousness. Praise Your Name!

Just are You, O Lord, our Eternal ONE,
For You judge the earth in Your righteousness.
They have shed the blood of Your righteous ones.
You give their reward. They’re to blame!

Kings of all the earth gather, one accord;
Make haste to engage in a mighty war.
They oppose the Lord and His holy saints.
They serve wickedness, to their shame!

Jesus comes again, to some unforeseen.
Blessed are those who wait for Him at the gate.
They’ll not be ashamed. “Glad” be their refrain.
When He comes again, He’ll remain!
