  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Stop him now. Someone needs to step in and stop this. This a crazed individual making maniacal threats. This is absolute lunacy and has to end.
I agree, but I don't believe it will end. It hasn't yet.

Where is the Democratic response to this insanity?

How Kamala Harris is not out screaming “I told you so!” from every rooftop right now is beyond me.
She isn't because there is no political advantage to be had. Kamala is running in 2028, not 2026.

Democrats are just letting Trump do what he does. His actions should be sufficient to do serious damage to Republican chances to wn House and Senate seats. There is no reason for Democrats to switch the focus, especially not from Trump to Harris.

Democrats who want to win will continue to focus on local issues, prices, affordability and healthcare. And, once in a while, the opponent's strong allegiance to Trump should be pointed out, with little detail or discussion.

I can't support this. Trump has gone looney tunes. Calm down Donald, for the love of God calm down.
the love of God is certainly not an incentive for Trump

For him to calm down takes billions of dollars and stroking and love from Putin.

Why does a certain party get so upset whenever terrorist regimes are threatened and or removed?
Because they don't want Trump to look like he's doing the right thing. They would have supported Bin Laden if Trump were President instead of Obama. (at that time)

All this being said I no longer support Trump, I voted for him twice, not that he ever won the state of MA. But the GOP let the federal subsidies sunset on the OCA leaving lots of people with more expensive health care (including me) and they didn't replace it with anything else.

Being ex Navy I don't care for his rhetoric against Greenland and NATO. These days he's nothing more than a schoolyard bully and I feel he needs to go. But I will never support progressives as an alternative to him. Someone with half a brain like Rubio would be a much better choice.

I more upset, that when Republicans get in office. Long wars get started. Republicans take money away from Americans, and money goes to wars, instead of kids. I hear all complaining, from Conservative Christians about people on Welfare or programs taking to much money. But, they don't seem to care about these wars , that cost way more money. Trump started trouble with Iran and all the other countries. That wasn't a threat to the United States.

Because another certain party attempts at the expense of our constitution and Christian morality. Then typically fails.

Senate Bill S2834 allows the POTUS to override the congress to conduct military operations domestically and overseas if the POTUS deems the situation a threat to National Security.

And now Trump has National Security Strategy team. He knows about that loophole.

You won't be able to do anything until you make revisions to that bill.
What Trump is proposing is clearly illegal under the DoD Law of War manual.

For instance, I was involved in targeting during the Persian Gulf War. We did bomb bridges and power plants, but those were strategically chosen. The bridges we bombed were those we knew from intelligence carried military communication cables. When we bombed a power plant, we first selected those we knew directly fed military installations, and we precisely struck portions of power plants only to reduce their capacity. Any more than that is a war crime.

My hope is that the senior military officials communicate a determination to the White House that they will not to go down as war criminals. There's no statute of limitation for war crimes, and they want their careers to last beyond Trump's term in office (maybe even beyond his lifetime).

Yes, the president could give them all blanket pardons before they're even prosecuted, but they'd have to stay in the US for the rest of their lives. Becoming "undeployable" is a death sentence for a military career.

Iranian Hezbollah killed 261 Americans in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, and they've been sponsoring terrorists ever since. Now they're working on getting nukes, you want them having nukes?

This has got to be one of the dumbest, most intellectually dishonest takes I’ve seen on here in all the years I’ve been on this site.

There’s no reasoning with people who think like you do.

We have no choice but to blow their civilization out of existence, is never the epitaph of “the good guys”.

Let me point out, too, that even planning such an attack is a war crime, even if the attack is never carried out. Trump has threatened the attack to begin five hours from the time I'm writing this. If that level of attack has actually been planned, the targeteers and weaponeers are already liable for prosecution.

I helped plan nuclear attacks (which, obviously, were never carried out), but if my attack planning did not conform to the Law of Armed Conflict, an audit would have landed me in extremely deep trouble.

Sure thing, the US entering wars and the US being at a constant state of war during the entire Obama administration didn't happen. There's this fantasy that Democrats never start wars, get involved in wars, or prolong wars... but that's just a fantasy. WWII - Democrat president. Korean War - Democrat president. Vietnam War - Democrat president.

I think leftists morals are in the floor, with what they are trying to do in the world.
But the right in there, is like all the 'trump derangement syndrome' they complain others have came back to him.
Christians should stop associating with this person.

But they would be also punished if they refused. Probably fired and get replaced by someone more pliable, who would then hope for a presidential pardon.
