  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Iran names Khamenei’s son as new supreme leader

It's not really a battle of attrition. Iran can keep getting supplied with munitions from other countries and lob them in the general directions of targets. Iran has no hope of winning, but it won't lose either. At some point, the bombardment will no longer be affordable for the US and Israel, so the war will peter out, and Iran will work on rebuilding.
How are they going to get these munitions? America controls the air and sea. Shipping them won't be easy. Also you have to have launchers for those things. We've already wiped out the majority of them. It won't be real long and they won't have any, or rhey will have so few they won't be a threat.

No, America doesn't control the Caspian Sea. And there's plenty of land trading available.

Allow me to share with you a map of Iran. I've made some helpful annotations:

Drones, which are the majority of what Iran is using at this point, can be launched from the back of a truck. They do not require any sort of sophisticated launch vehicle.

Yeah and eventually they will run out of trucks and drones. This isn't going last a long time. We may not control the Caspian Sea by having ships there. But we dont have to. We have drones too you know. And an airforce that can fly over and blow up anything coming to Iran.

Not saying that they will have nothing. I mean even Hitler still had stuff at the end. So this thing won't be lasting a long time. And since we aren't occupying Iran, it wont.

I've already stated my objections to this at this time. I don't feel we really needed to do this right now. Didn't and still don't see the urgency of it. Not from my limited perspective. So I am glad its not going to go on and on.

Do you really think that we're going to blow up trucks in other countries and ships in the Caspian Sea that are headed to Iran?

How many other countries do you want us to go to war with here?

Iran has named Mojtaba Khamenei the country’s next supreme leader, state media reports, following the killing of his father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. US President Donald Trump previously said Khamenei’s son would be an “unacceptable” selection.

Should we place bets on how long he lasts in office before another unfortunate "kaboom" befalls the Khamenei dynasty?

His longevity prospects aside this is both good news and bad news. If he follows in his father's footsteps he will be a brake on the development of nuclear weapons. On the dark side he has no problem murdering his own people and the people across the region as part of an effort to realise his false religious vision of the future of Iran and the world.

Its part of war. Cut off supplies. Not sure what you don't understand about t that. If other countries were supplying Hitler, are you saying we shouldn't put a stop to it? How foolish is that? Let's just let anyone who wants to supply yout enemy with supplies for the war?

Sigh. I suggest you consult a helpful AI like ChatGPT on why we're not doing that. I suspect the two of us would just be talking around in circles. It all boils down to not starting wars with neutral countries. We're even (currently) avoiding blowing up Iran's oil and gas supplies to avoid upsetting other countries.

It's not war. We have the Peace President. It's going to peace against another country. We kill them with peace, we destroy their countries with peace.

I think that yes, this is true. The Trump Administration is willing to make themselves targets if it gets them closer to the world that they would like to craft.

I can live with that as a USAian.

It’s not the world I would choose for my leaders to act, but they’re acting, and should there be real danger of actual attacks, there’s plenty of space in whatever bunker Trump needs to broadcast from.
Sorry, but the American President has no interest in being a target. Besides … bone spurs. He’ll gladly photo op at a casket unloading if he can wear his merch.

The Iranian people have been told for at least 20years that the West was coming to get them…well, here it is, the Great Satan is at the door, what are you, [loyal Iranian citizen] going to do?
Google “Iran 1953”. America helped regime change before.

And picked a good ruler to boot.
I sincerely hope you’re joking. But he was a King with a great secret police force. President Trump would have loved to work with him.

I believe he identified as Shahanshah. Literally translated to King of kings.

Wow, that's a really high level.
And the CIA and MI6 put him in power. No wonder the guy was eventually overthrown. Modern Iran is a problem we created.

I heard we, and England, built their drilling and oil extraction facilities for them, and after financing all that, Iran decided to kick us off the property, and nationalize what we built, offering us (and England) zero compensation... The losses were astronomical, which was the catalyst that destroyed a previously good relationship.

After all that, we took out, and replaced their leadership as revenge.

I've gotten tired of winning so much.
Much of the West has. It shows in how soft and timid we've become, in my humble opinion, compared to the drive and ambition of past generations.
