  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Aside from the following results, I don't wish to entertain any and all justification of relieving themselves of this still present, greatest gift (1 Corinthians 14:5) under the performing confines of liturgy, however rigorous that justification that rose up against His holy will, which will have no part and instead, willingly instructs to turn aside from any such 'disruption'! What else are we to glean, but a quench in itself. To those who are the exception, Catholic and all other liturgists, glory to God! But to those happy to suppress His spontaneous direction, isn't it time to for once in your worship entertain rather than shun convenience to this loving detail? The following is directed at all liturgical expression (not just Catholics) that maintains the same strict un-responsiveness.

Expression of Tongues and Prophecy in Catholic Mass
GPT-4o mini - "In a Catholic Mass, if a congregant were to express themselves as though they were interpreting tongues or prophesying, several factors would come into play concerning the church's teachings and the response of both clergy and fellow congregants.

Understanding the Context

Catholic worship is rooted in structured liturgy and particular doctrinal beliefs. While the concepts of tongues and prophecy are acknowledged, they are typically viewed through the lens of Catholic tradition and doctrine.

Reaction from the Congregation and Clergy

  1. Immediate Reactions:
    • Disruption: The expression of tongues or a public prophecy during the Mass could interrupt the flow of the liturgical service, potentially leading to confusion among congregants.
    • Concern: Other attendees may react with concern or surprise, as spontaneous expressions not aligned with the liturgy may be seen as inappropriate.
  2. Clergy's Role:
    • Pastoral Response: The priest or deacon leading the Mass would likely intervene to restore order. They may remind the congregation of the prescribed form of worship.
    • Clarification: The clergy may seek clarification from the individual afterward to understand their experience and discern its nature.
  3. Theological Consideration:
    • Interpretation of Tongues: In Catholic teaching, the interpretation of tongues is viewed as a charism (spiritual gift) but is understood as being distinct from liturgical worship in the Mass context.
    • Guidance from Church Authority: Any claims of prophecy or tongues would need to be carefully evaluated within the framework of Church teaching, possibly by a pastor or local bishop.

Overall Impact on the Individual

  • Personal Reflection: The person expressing this may experience a mix of emotions, ranging from confusion to zeal, depending on their understanding of the experience and its acceptance by the community.
  • Potential Consequences: If their expression is deemed disruptive, it may lead to discussions about proper conduct within the Mass or even pastoral counseling to explore their experiences while remaining biblically aligned."

We are not genius inventors taking credit; but grateful stewards who have received knowledge and truth facilitated by AI's tool to search out matters from the labors of others for the edification of His Body, the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you God in heaven!

Would invite any to re-evaluate my personal findings. Conclusions that the Church's spiritual health experienced a corrupting influence by accepting the Edict of Milan, which changed feeding Christians to the lions to feeding christians friendship with the world. That protocol, I suspect handed us a prioritize pre-conditioned worship to replace the spontaneous gifts of the Holy Spirit!!

After an extended period of dotting around, the Lord ("seek and you will find") provided it.

At what point did the universal expectation of the gifts of the Spirit be quenched from our gathering Church services?

As can be seen in the above link, Liturgy's pact and surrendered Church authority to the pagan state was fully unnecessary.

The Spirit-led Body of Christ itself was and is greater than all gifts. (1Cor 14:29):

Have two or three prophets speak, and have the others pass judgment.

Verse 32: "The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets." Never, at the expense of the corporate Body of Christ!

The Flaw
Somehow, the loss of seizing verse 29's authority over the prophet is the excuse all institutional liturgy was founded upon,

"To maintain imperial unity, the hierarchy suppressed unpredictable [life of the Spirit] "spiritual" outbursts."

So, as the OP maintains from V5, It is fair to continue the Apostle's chief spiritual/orderly concern, ,

", , that the church may receive edification."

No, I don't think it has surrendered itself with a curse, but how much longer does it protect itself from it while fomenting an open quenching of the Spirit? Again, glory to God for all who are the exception to these findings!!

The granddaddy of all non-essential Christian Doctrine should not escape view without simplifying what happened. You'll notice, I used "Liturgy" as the outcome of the 313-AD heathen pact also known as the Edict of Milan, only because Liturgy is the most renowned pitch the flesh within chose to use to show the Holy Spirit of the Apostle's tradition the door.

But if your like me, I still might not grasp the severity here on a couple of different levels? They may feel as I, that where we are now just kinda of transformed itself into these many elite forms of expression with no disruption to the "succession" of shepherds. What possible interruption could have impacted? Well, first stop is warning to the flock to be warry of,

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. -The Apostle Paul (Acts 20:29)

Just as the link shows, they were scattered and I can only imagine the remaining spiritual fallout effort to publish this received an ongoing freeze out.

But, I still might not be convinced of any wrongdoing? What is some of those key points to illustrate any shame of the Church's involvement?

Do not become unequally yoked together with unbelievers. (2 Corinthians 6:14)
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)
Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility with God?
Therefore whoever has chosen to be a friend of the world is appointed an enemy of God.
(James 4:4)
Anyone of you having a matter against the other, dare he go to law
before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?
(1 Corinthians 6:1)

As I tend to use the epistles as a practical-side on issue of the Gospels, this one from the Lord remains untouched as it pertains to our ancient brotherhood escape being tossed to the lions,

Make every effort to reconcile with your adversary while you are on your way to the magistrate. Otherwise, he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and the officer may throw you into prison. / I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the very last penny.” (Luke 12:58)

As far as Liturgy is concerned as solitary involvement, wrong, there is remnants of the Edict throughout denominations in varying degree. God help us!

Before the Edict of Milan we were being fed to the lions for pagan entertainment. After the Edict was recieved the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ through the perpetual oracle of the Shepherds became polluted without fully overtaking the essence of the Church.
