In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The EWTN News RealClear Opinion Research Poll shows most Catholic voters still support President Trump and key policies such as mass deportations, even as inflation emerges as a potential warning sign.

One year after the 2024 presidential election returned him to the White House, President Donald Trump remains popular among Catholic voters, whose support proved pivotal to his re-election, a new EWTN News RealClear Opinion Research Poll shows.

That backing extends to the chief flashpoint of Trump’s first year since regaining the presidency: the ongoing mass deportation of hundreds of thousands of illegal or undocumented immigrants.

That policy has sparked national protests, widespread media coverage, and strong statements of concern and condemnation from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and individual bishops. Even Pope Leo XIV has criticized it on multiple occasions, as did his predecessor, Pope Francis.

Yet a majority of Catholic voters (54%) say they support Trump’s policies calling for the detention and deportation of unauthorized immigrants on a broad scale; 30% are opposed, and 17% neither favor nor oppose.

It may not be that Donald Trump is 'popular' but that he's still seen as better by a mile or two than the failed administration he replaced.

Bad news...
The votes are in, and it’s bad news for President Trump.

A new report by Rasmussen, a public opinion firm that tracks President Trump's job approval ratings on a daily basis, has found that 48% of voters feel that Joe Biden was a better president than Donald Trump.

Historically, Rasmussen has leaned in Trump’s favor, even being described as “Trump’s favorite pollster” by political strategist Chris D. Jackson. While 40% of voters say that Trump is the better president, a solid 8% feel they are about the same.

You are apparently conflating average voters and Catholic voters. There is some difference.

It’s no big surprise that average voters might think Biden was the better president considering the media favoring Biden over Trump. But even there it’s not that stark a difference between the two.

American Catholic bishops are on average politically to the left of center, and have been on average highly critical of president Trump. But the laity is not quite on board with these bishops when they start playing politics. They are more centrist with a bit of a conservative political leaning. Too bad there isn’t a good candidate who fits that description in the binary political world of right wing and even further left wing big parties.

The crisis for republicans, is that average voters matter.

Probably trying to please the Boss. The point remains. American voters think Biden was a better president than Trump. When a right-leaning pollster like Rasmussen says this, it's really, really bad news for Trump.

I don’t think Trump is running again. Do you think he is?

He says he's thinking about it. But he's already said what scares him now. If republicans lose midterms he's getting impeached again.

He'd probably not get convicted, Senate being what it is. But having a huge and delicate ego, he wants to avoid it at all costs.

He's yanking your chain. He likes to yank people's chains.

He's been impeached already. What's another few impeachments. It's Democratic Party theater. No longer a big deal. If it were actually a big deal it would be multi-partisan.

If you think he wouldn't try, you're way too trusting. A man who would incite an insurrection to stay in office wouldn't be deterred by a Constitutional amendment.

No longer a big deal.
It is for Trump. He wants to be admired and loved. Losing the election to Biden completely unhinged him. Getting convicted of numerous felonies eats at him. And yes, being impeached eats at him. In the Epstein affair, it bothers him more that people are laughing at him more than it bothers him that they are angry with him.

He lives rent free in many people's heads. I am continually amazed at how he succeeds in doing that.

He's obsessed with Biden and Obama. Any praise of those two seems to infuriate him. It was his AG's public admission that Biden beat him that is responsible for his catsup-throwing tantrum in the WH dining room. As his former pal, Howard Stern, predicted, being president was very bad for Trump's mental health.

Testimony by a Trump presidential staffer.
Complete with lyrics. I wish ALL news was reported that way.

What did Hillary throw? Or is that irrelevant?

What did Hillary throw?
Actually, she dodged it:
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A woman who threw a shoe at Hillary Rodham Clinton during a speech the former secretary of state made in Las Vegas last April has been sentenced to one year of federal supervision in her home state of Arizona, her defense attorney said Tuesday.

Alison Michelle Ernst, 37, of Phoenix, also was sentenced Monday to undergo mental health treatment at the discretion of probation officials, said William Carrico, the deputy federal public defender who handled her case.

She wasn't the president who threw a catsup-pitching tantrum because his AG admitted that Biden beat Trump. I think some beta males were peddling a story that she threw something at Bill after his affair. They embellished what she actually said :

Hillary Clinton joked about a decades long rumor that she threw a lamp or a book at her husband, Bill Clinton, over his affair with Monica Lewinsky
“No, not that I haven’t thought about it. But no, I never have done it,” the former secretary of state told Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen on Thursday.

I wonder if Trump denied throwing anything in the White House if you would believe him.

I also find it a tad amusing that this discussion is now focusing on throwing condiments.

For the record, I never have thrown any condiments that I can recall. I did throw a book once, but it was by Ayn Rand, so it was fitting to be thrown.

I don't know if the staffer who testified about his tantrum is a compulsive liar. But I know that Trump is.

Probably never something any of us would have imagined a president doing.

But you don't have Trump's derangement syndrome.

Trump would throw food against the wall once or twice a week, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson says

Is that a clinical diagnosis? By real clinical psychiatrists? I'll grant you it sounds very medicalized. But then I suspect that diagnosis is from some of the same people that are calling him 'Hitler'. I'd say there is derangement going on but that isn't allowed in CF. I think I can say that Trump lives rent free in too many heads. Take a breath.
