CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Guardian analyzed data extracted from nearly 140,000 I-213 forms, from January 2025 through mid-August 2025, and found that the surge in arrests under Trump is driven by the apprehension of people who have never been convicted of a crime.
The analysis also reveals:
Fewer than half of the people in the data (40%) had any criminal charge against them, and only 23% had a conviction.
Of those who did have a criminal conviction, nearly half were for non-violent traffic and immigration offenses.
Traffic offenses alone made up nearly 30% of the convictions, the largest category by far.
Some 9% of criminal convictions were for assault, while only 1% were for sexual assault and just 0.5% were for homicide.

Oh, good grief. You say you don't want to involve yourself with worldly politics, yet everything you post is political. In a thread that is discussing politics. And now saying that Trump is more of a Christian than Biden just lost you all credibility.

No. But his promise to deport larger numbers than practical led to setting high quotas. When combined by a lack of accountability for illegal or senseless actions, we get this result. His many anti immigrant statements suggest that the leadership setting up this situation is correctly reading his intent.

Because Trump Admin is going about it recklessly in order to meet Trump promised numbers. It’s not the numbers, it’s the “policy“ of grab first and verify later.

Obama was accused of doing it recklessly too. The ACLU sued him.many times. The truth is people want to hate Trump so they do. They believe the democrats are the saviors of America like the republicans believe about their own party.

I think only MAGA voters believe that. Negative feelings about Trump are a direct result of Trump’s words and actions.

I don’t need to tell myself that. I have been watching him and he is only getting worse. His policies were bad in 2017, now I don’t even believe he is mentally competent.

I believe trump does say things that anger democrats but they would hate him regardless because politics is hate based. And saying something dissagreeble to a democrat isnt hard to do. Just say that a man cannot become a woman or that abortion is wrong. Thats all you need to say to anger many of them

Not at all.
I think that you need to come to terms with the type of man Trump is. I've been around the block a few times. Been following US politics since JFK. I have not come acoss a politician anywhere at any time that has the complete lack of any redeeming qualities whatsoever as does Trump.
But I would ignore his lack of anything you could describe as character (through gritted teeth) if he was doing the right thing for the US as a whole. If he was representing all Americans. But he's not. He's in it for what he can get out of it. Literally everything he does is with bad grace. His words, his actions...they all point to the man he is.
If he had fallen into this position by some extraordinary sequence of barely credible events then one would put it down to some cosmic joke being played out on Americans. But, ye gods, so many of you voted for him. So it's not a joke by any means. He now represents you as a people. He is a reflection of the country you have become.
You have to take responsibility for that.
