Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.
They are debating legislation. This is the legislative means. Maybe if the Republicans had been more willing to talk before the deadline arrived, this could have been avoided. But Speaker Johnson kept the House adjourned.
The bills were already passed in the house through bi partisan vote - maybe if the Democrats would stop using the American Public hostage the Senate could pass what Speaker Johnson has already had passed in the house.
The Republicans already heard what kind of talk the Democrats wanted to do. The Democrats want everything their way or they won't even fund the government and they're willing to once again (the 3rd time in a row) prevent ordinary Americans from getting a paycheck for the work they're doing. All to "punish" an agency that is already funded.
Most of the government is funded. Just not the Department that's shooting Americans dead. There may be some tweaks needed there, and if the GOP won't get on board, so much the worse for them.
