CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good question - I think it has a lot to do with identity - insecurity makes us more prone to peer pressure. Satan is in the game big time wanting to destroy. Lack of good teaching back the day. No real access to good counsel. There is a few first thoughts. This was the early seventies.

Yes I even tracked down my bible class teacher ask asked him what he could do for me now...
When the Jesus revival hit there was a growing awareness of the spiritual bondages that folks suffered under and genuine deliverance ministries arose. For a season the church became quite empowered but this faded and we seem to be largely left with a new plastic version in many cases.

Thanks for that. As a young teenager, my stomach churned over if an impure thought came to me. I didn't want to spend eternity in hell. I basically believed, perform perfect or be in danger of the fires of hell. It can have a devastating effect

Exactly - my struggle was different - as I read scripture I equated total surrender with becoming a ragged bare footed prophet on the street. I was afraid of this so I liberalised my faith and that led to compromise. What I hadn't realised was that total surrender gives God the permission to work order in your like and the end result is miles better not the chaos I envisaged and was afraid of.

Yep, mind you True Christianity is extreme in the fact that The Way is only accessible to those who, like the disciples left all and followed Him.

Yes, we have to get out of the road and let Him do what He does best.
We also have to learn to see what the Father is doing as Jesus did.
Sadly the modern way is to "practice the gifts" on each-other which is the opposite to "earnestly seek" as Paul taught.
