  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A new ransom note has reportedly emerged weeks after the disappearance of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie. The latest communication, which TMZ reported receiving, includes a demand for millions of dollars in cryptocurrency and a graphic description of the consequences of not paying the ransom.

The ransom email demands payment in a cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin, TMZ reported on Wednesday. The latest email also asked for a sum of money similar to the $6 million ransom demand included in a previous email that the outlet said it received days after 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

According to TMZ’s report, the new ransom-demand email used a different crypto account number than the one in the original message, and it forwarded the latest email to the FBI.

Authorities have been working to locate Nancy Guthrie ever since she was reported missing after not attending a virtual church service on the morning of Feb. 1.

I heard there was the question of how she needs her medication to stay alive. So, I am curious if she has already passed the limit of being able to survive without the medicine.

Plus, anyone who can do atrocities to a person might not be trustworthy, anyway, to honor a ransom agreement.

And . . . of course . . . some scammer or scammers might be the ones who have sent messages.

So, law enforcement might try to solve each case of a letter independently, even independently of the kidnapping, since a separate party could be involved with each message and another with the actual kidnapping . . . or whatever it really was. Some might evidently be connected, though; I don't know.

I would be looking for confirmation information to show the kidnapper wrote the message plus still has her alive.
