In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. It says through Jesus' death...
Okay, the devils reign of death over the elect has been destroyed, that's why they receive a regeneration by the resurrection of Christ from the dead, spiritual death has been destroyed for them 1 Pet 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

If He had not died, this isn't possible. So His Death and Resurrection save the elect. That's why this thread is the Saving results of His Death, the resurrection is a result of His death

. But Paul also says we are justified through the resurrection.
No He doesnt, He preached Justified by His Blood. Now in Rom 4:25 He teaches that Jesus was raised for our Justification, meaning because of the elects Justification

; 25 who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Pay attention, I dont do a lot of repeating,

the word for is the prep dia

  1. the ground or reason by which something is or is not done
    1. by reason of
    2. on account of
    3. because of for this reason
    4. therefore
    5. on this account

So He was delivered because of our sins, and He raised again because of out Justification

It was His death that put away our sins, and His resurrection is a testification of Justification

So actually if we teach that anyone Jesus died for wasnt Justified God, we deny the very witness of His Resurrection

You cant say He rose from the dead and someone He died for dies in their sins in unbelief

Do you mean that Jesus was raised because we had already been justified by His death?

διά + accusative can mean either “because of” OR “for the sake of / with a view to."

Ehhhh. ???

The Devil is not destroyed yet...
False teaching, If he wasn't destroyed, his works would not be destroyed, and no one could be regenerated. Christ could not have risen from the dead.

Now he hasnt been cast into the lake of fire yet, but his power of death has been destroyed.

What you are saying is antichrist 1 Jn 3:8

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Are you suggesting True believers never sin after being born again ?

Are you suggesting that resurrection from the dead never happened before the crucifixion ?

Can I suggest you are in breach of forum rules buy pronouncing another member as antichrist...

Christ came to save His People from their sins Matt 1:21

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

This coincides with 1 Tim 1:15

15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Now He does this[save sinners] by His Death, hence we read by His death for sinners He eternally redeemed them Heb 9:12

neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Rev 5:9

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain[death], and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

By it He Justified those He died for, shed His Blood for Rom 5:8-9

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

By it He sanctified us and perfected us Heb 10:10,14

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

By it He reconciled them He died for unto God and ensured they shall be saved by His Life Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

All this is the fruit of His saving death! 26

I find that view strange, since Paul says if Christ wasn't raised we would still be in our sins. That sounds like the resurrection isn't just a consequence of justification but necessary for it. At least if you take Paul literally.

and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.

Satan is the accuser / adversary in the heavenly courtroom, but believers have an Advocate - Jesus Christ. Satan accuses the saints before God, and accuses God before the world. Its in the book of Job (a very important book of the Bible)

I got the following from the Internet.

In Christian theology, Jesus serves as our advocate, interceding on our behalf before God and applying His righteousness to our lives.

Understanding Jesus' Role as Advocate

The term "advocate" comes from the Greek word parakletos, which means one who is called alongside to help. In the context of Jesus, it signifies His role as a defender and intercessor for believers. According to 1 John 2:1, "If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." This verse highlights that even when believers stumble, Jesus stands in their defense, representing them before God.

The Significance of His Advocacy

Abolished Death

Christs Death is saving because by His Death alone, and His Resurrection is proof, He abolished death for them He died for, which is brought to light by the Gospel.

2 Tim 1:9-10

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Christs death was the death of death. The word abolished is the word katargeō which means:

to render idle, unemployed, inactivate, inoperative

    1. to cause a person or thing to have no further efficiency
    2. to deprive of force, influence, power
  1. to cause to cease, put an end to, do away with, annul, abolish
    1. to cease, to pass away, be done away
    2. to be severed from, separated from, discharged from, loosed from any one
    3. to terminate all intercourse with one

Its an aorist tense verb denoting its a done accomplishment,

Hence The Saviour Christ by His Death alone has abolished death, causes it to be inoperative, deprives of its influence and efficiency, discharges and looses from death every sinner He died for, ensuring and causing their subsequent regeneration from spiritual death, and if they have physically died, will raise them from physical death unto Glory.

This is one of the many results of the Saving death of Christ. Its impossible therefore for any sinner Christ died for, not to be regenerated as evidence of His death abolishing death, and resurrection. That's why Peter writes 1 Pet 1:3

.3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

They were begotten again, or regenerated unto a living hope by Christs resurrection from the dead because for them His death abolished death! 26

As long as we see the crucifixion and the resurrection as timeless events anchored in chronology then they have simultaneous efficacy throughout history.

The abolition of death was established at the Cross chronologically and the Resurrection proclaimed the entirely new created order beginning with the first born - Jesus Himself.

To start a thread stressing the truth of the abolition of death through the Cross is fine if presented together with the central significance of the resurrection. Paul rightly sees the resurrection pivotal to faith not the Cross.

Christian teaching must be life giving. This builds faith.

Interesting is that Paul also refers to dying daily and surrender of self is essential to appropriating His new Life.

I feel uncomfortable about the way this topic is being presented and the way respondents are quickly condemned for raising reasonable discussion around the OP.

Mining the treasure of Scripture should be a joyful celebration not a platform for condemnation.

Christ is lifegiving so teach that 1 Cor 15

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam[Christ] was made a quickening spirit.

The word quickening is the word zōopoieō:

  1. to produce alive, begat or bear living young
  2. to cause to live, make alive, give life
    1. by spiritual power to arouse and invigorate
    2. to restore to life
    3. to give increase of life: thus of physical life
    4. of the spirit, quickening as respects the spirit, endued with new and greater powers of life
  3. metaph., of seeds quickened into life, i.e. germinating, springing up, growing
of the dead, to reanimate, restore to life: 1 Corinthians 15:45

All for whom He died by His resurrection He makes them alive from Spiritually dead in sin Eph 2:1,5 and will make the elect alive from physical death if theyre sleeping now.

This I have been doing for many years on this forum...

Have a great day.
I havent seen it, Ive been here a minute. Plus you oppose the saving results of the death of Christ. All for whom He died, abolishing death for them, He is a life giving Spirit,

Dont you believe there are sinners Christ died for who shall forever be lost in their sins and unbelief ?
