  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bandying about job numbers reminds me of the Vietnam War days when the Administration proudly presented its "body counts" of enemy killed.

Bare numbers didn't mean that much then, they don't mean that much now unless related to the larger context.

How many people are losing jobs that paid living wages, how many people are gaining jobs that pay living wages?

Jobs report recap: US added 130,000 jobs in January, beating expectations

"It was a January job surge. The surprisingly strong job gains in January were driven mainly by health care and social assistance," Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union, said in a statement. "But it is enough to stabilize the job market and send the unemployment rate slightly lower.
Last I heard from Trump, these numbers can't be trusted. When did that change?

Let's start with the biggest investment by Apple. $600 billion. Wow. And how many people will they be hiring after spending that much money? Well, it's about 5,000 each year. At a cost of $30 million per employer.

Really?

How about you get back to us when any of these proposed investments (most of which are concerned with AI, chip manufacturing and pharmaceuticals) timelines which are often measured in years, actually result in an overall increases in manufacturing jobs.

Incidently, when did the WH start singing the praises of investments in EVs?

I don't, and I'm glad Biden put an end to Trump's inflation spike.
Looks like you're living in an alternate reality, in my opinion.

I miss the days of that 10% inflation. Those were the days. High gas prices were awesome as well. Along with floods of illegals coming in and taking jobs and jacking up the cost of housing.

I guess the liberals thought Trump was really going to solve everything within a year. They had a lot more faith in him than I did. I had more realistic expectations. He's actually done pretty good for only being here a year.

Still more to be done.
Would have been worse if Pence caved and Trump pulled of the election steal. Inflation was a post covid world wide thing. Everything this first Trump year from the layoffs, farm bankruptcies, dead tourism, abysmal job creation, and farmers needing bailouts is Trump and Trump alone.

Perhaps the same revelation that climate change melting the Arctic icecap means we need to own Greenland.

Bidenomics was an unmitigated disaster.
Unsupported opinions are fine.
I enjoy seeing them, it’s like watching snow melt.

And the added world-wide inflation spike thanks to Russia invading Ukraine later on. I know the Trump fans like saying that it would have never started if Trump had been president, but that's pure delusion, just like "I'll end the war on day 1!" was delusion. It was going to happen, because Putin wanted it to happen.

1970s to 1980s? I feel some nostalgia for the 80s.

The Reagan years were the best! Best music, best movies, best television. Paychecks were easy to figure out, $3.35 an hour for almost two terms.
