  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Regeneration is impossible before the Indwelling at rebirth.
Regeneration is the new birth.

John 3:3 Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

5. Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Regeneration is the new birth.
Regeneration starts at new birth...

Romans 8:13
for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
2 Corinthians 4:16
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day.
Ephesians 4:23
in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
Colossians 3:10
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created it

That is progressive sanctification, not regeneration. It is a result of regeneration and union with Christ through faith.

Are you suggesting we are not to attain to becoming more Christ like, putting off the flesh, walking in the Spirit - after our initial birth in Faith ?

So you claim Salvation was secured for the elect before the resurrection ?
Didnt you just read where I said they're a unified whole in post 357 ? The DBR secured and saved the full Salvation of them He died for. Why dont you try reading my posts instead of going around in circles

Yes, I read you posts, and the fact that you seem to want to emphasise the saving aspects of the death of Christ more than the Saving Power of the resurrection.

This miss-emphasis leads to a dead church - the title of your thread seems to expose your perspective in this regard.

How do you get that, out of this:

The Resurrection of Christ evidences/vindicates the saving efficacy of His Death, His death abolished death, destroyed it, hence proof of that is His Resurrection 2 Tim 1:10

10 but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

How do you think He abolished death ? What does abolishing death mean ?

It does not say "His death" abolished death. It just say "He abolished death".

I think he claims salvation was secured for the elect before creation.
Yes there is no doubt the crucifixion is a timeless event and the elect were chosen before the creation, however the OP seems to present the former without the necessary context of the latter. This is to fail to include the appropriately the Power of God manifest in the Resurrection.

Generally Churches that are over focussed on the death of Jesus do not express His Life.

By his death and resurrection?
I disagree, I believe He destroyed death by His death and His Resurrection evidenced it. Heb 2:14

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil

How did He destroy the devil who had power of death ?

That is a future event.

Hm, but is it not the resurrection that justifies us? I don't think the resurrection is just a sign of the victory over death, but the resurrection is needed for the victory to be fulfilled.

He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.
— Romans 4:25

and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
— 1 Corinthians 15:17

It says through Jesus' death...

... But Paul also says we are justified through the resurrection.
