  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So what is the Law of Christ?
It is the royal law.

James 2:8
If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.

1 John 3:10
This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

1 John 4:20
Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.

How does a person love his brother/neighbor?

Romans 13:10
Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Matthew 25:31-40

How does a person hate his neighbor/brother?

1 Timothy 5:8
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Matthew 6:14-15
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 25:41-46

I agree, but that's not all. In the following verses Moses is telling the Israelites that God chose them strictly out of His love for them.Deuteronomy (7:7) The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: (8) But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

(9) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Note in verse (9) Moses states a condition that God requires in order for Him to keep covenant and have mercy. And that is an individual must love God and keep His commandments. The scriptures will show that there is only one way to love God and that is by keeping His commandments.

Note that Jesus states in the following verse that in order to love Him one has to keep His commandments.

John (14:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Jesus further defines the love He requires when He states in the following verse that those who have His commandments and keep them are those that love Him. One does not have to guess at Jesus definition of love He made it clear.

John (14:21) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Jesus also reinforced what was said in Deuteronomy verse (9) by adding that those that love Him will be loved by the Father. How does one love Jesus? by keeping His commandments and Moses said God will keep covenant and have mercy with those who keep His commandments. So therefore by following Jesus one shall receive love from Him as well as mercy from the Father.

Leviticus 24:19-22
If a man causes disfigurement of his neighbor, as he has done, so shall it be done to him— 20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has caused disfigurement of a man, so shall it be done to him. 21 And whoever kills an animal shall restore it; but whoever kills a man shall be put to death. 22 You shall have the same law for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am the Lord your God.’ ”

IOW, if an Israelite kills anyone, Israelite or not, without a just cause, this Israelite will be put to death.
This law has nothing to do with the Sabbath laws, which were only for the Israelites and the converts to their religion. Exodus 31:13
Pay attention!! You miss the whole point, your understanding needs to increase, lets try to get you to understand this way. Let's go to Exodus 12: 37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. 38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
For time sake let's skip down to 49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. This includes the Sabbath and other laws, even to this day.

Paul is warning these Gentile Christians to ignore the Judaizers who want to make them follow the Law of Moses' dietary laws, sabbath laws, and holy days.

Paul also warns them to ignore the Judaizers who demand that they become circumcised. If they become circumcised into Judaism, they will lose the salvation that they received through their baptism into Christianity.
Should Jesus Christ be called a Judaizer because he kept the Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week? And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read (Luke 4: 14-16). Even after the death of Jesus the Sabbath day on the seventh day was kept. The Apostle Paul understood this he knew and kept Gods law including the seventh day Sabbath. Now lets take a look at; (Acts 13:13-15, 42, 44) (v.13) Now when Paul and his company loosed from Pa’-phus, they came to Per’-ga in Pam-phyl’-I-a: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem. (v.14) But when they departed from Per’-ga, they came to An’-ti-och in Pi-sid’-I-a, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. Paul went into the church (synagogue) on the Sabbath day the seventh day not the first day (Sunday). (v.15) And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. (v.42) And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. The Gentiles didn’t asked Paul to come preach us something different next Sunday. They wanted Paul to preach to them the same thing that he taught the Jews, the next Sabbath. Even the Gentiles knew that if they were going to serve the same God that Paul and the Jews (Israelites) served that they would have to serve him on the day that God had set up. (v.42) And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. Not the next Sunday but the next Sabbath.

So now creative name come forth Judaizer, which is not written in the Bible and a new day to worship Sunday come forth as well, which is not written in the Bible to do. The keeping of Sunday as the Christian Sabbath is not of God but of Man. If you are a true Christian, which means a follower of Christ or to be Christ like; then why are you following a day set up by man?

Ample evidence from history shows that the celebration of Sunday originated from pagan practices of SUN WORSHIP. In March of 321 A.D., the Roman Emperor Constantine, who was at first a sun-worshiper and later a Christian convert, issued the first decree declaring Sunday to be a legal day of rest. In 336 A.D., the Roman Catholic Church officially changed the observance of Sabbath to Sunday for political and economic expediency. Since then, the original Sabbath gradually gave way to Sunday observance and the practice remains to this day.
Paul states that the Law of Moses is slavery. Galatians 5:1-5

Affirming the deity of God the Holy Spirit as one of the Trinity, of one essence with the Father, who proceeds from the Father.
I never seen the word Trinity in the Bible, but I agree that the Bible says in 1 John 5: 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

There you go.

“To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, I became as one under the Law, though not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law;”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭20‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

“But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬
“We” includes Paul.
It's very important that you understand what Law is this that Paul says "though not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law;”

Do you know what Law is this?

Paul says that he is not under the law. The law is the Mosaic law, all of it. If he was under any parts of the law he would have told us which parts he was still under.
It can't be all the Mosaic Law, because Paul says in (Rom. 13:7-10) (v.7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. (v.8) Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. That’s the biblical definition of love, the keeping of God’s law. (v.9) For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF. (v.10) Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

And that is what God’s holy commandments are all about; the first four tells you how to love God and the last six tells you how to love your neighbor. If you love your God you will not do any thing to offend him, like having other gods before him. You will do as he says like remember the sabbath day to keep it holy on the seventh day of the week. If you love him you will obey him when he tells you not to eat certain meats etc… And the same goes for your fellow man, if you love your neighbor you wouldn’t steal from him, you wouldn’t kill him, you wouldn’t try and sleep with his wife and so on and so forth. (See exodus 20: 1-17)

The 10 commandments were repeated into Jesus two love commandments which we follow with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Christian does not follow the letter of the law which only convicted without giving anyone a means to repentance. Jesus did that.

If you bother to read the verses that you posted outside of your legalistic view you would see that the “commandments” that Paul refers to here are all dependent on Jesus commandment of love your neighbor. The verse reads that if anyone keeps the love your neighbor command all other commands are kept from that one commandment. This is a big difference that you are not able to grasp.

Now, this is highly problematic. You made this exact claim--almost word for word--earlier. I then pointed out how much of it was completely false. Namely, the fact you claim there is ample evidence but provide none, the implication it started with Constantine is false because Christiasn celebrated Sunday before he was even born, and that the whole "In 336 A.D., the Roman Catholic Church officially changed the observance of Sabbath to Sunday for political and economic expediency" is false too.

You replied not actually giving any real response to anything I said, but instead throwing out a bunch of quotes from works that don't actually back up what you had to say. I noted all of this. You replied, and again opted to not offer evidence for your claims, and instead just declared "First of all, I'm done with arguing about who history is right, when I know I'm right because the Bible backs me up 100%." So I figured that if you were willing to move on from your inaccurate historical claims, there wasn't any need to engage further. Others can argue with you in regards to the Bible if they wish. However, you then--out of nowhere--make this claim again.

What is especially troubling is your repeat of "In 336 A.D., the Roman Catholic Church officially changed the observance of Sabbath to Sunday for political and economic expediency" even after I explained how that wasn't true. This claim of yours almost certainly derives from the Council of Laodicea, but even if one wants to interpret the Council of Laodicea's 29th canon as "officially" changing the Sabbath, which is arguable, the council in question did not occur in 336 (a common date given to it is 363, and 336 seems to have been a bunch of people copying a typo) and it had nothing to do with the Roman Catholic Church--and that's assuming you are talking about that, if you aren't then you really need to explain what it is you're referring to. Incorrectly repeating this claim is an issue to begin with, but doing so even after it was pointed out to you it was false is more so.

So again, you have made a bunch of false or at least misleading claims in here, which have already been pointed out to you, which you have refused to properly engage with, and still you just spout them all off. Are you going to again simply dodge all of these points in your reply and/or change the subject?

I agree, but that's not all. In the following verses Moses is telling the Israelites that God chose them strictly out of His love for them.Deuteronomy (7:7) The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: (8) But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

(9) Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;

Also, eternal life is given to only those who love him, and they are the people who obey his commandments until they die.

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

What law is this?
The Judaizers are the Christians who want other Christians to keep the Law of Moses' sabbaths.

Judaizer
Judaizer refers to a person who adheres to or promotes the observance of Jewish religious laws, customs, and traditions—particularly the Mosaic Law—especially in the context of early Christianity. In the New Testament, the term specifically describes Jewish Christians who insisted that Gentile converts must be circumcised and follow Jewish ceremonial laws (such as dietary restrictions and Sabbath observance) to be saved. This view was strongly opposed by the Apostle Paul, who argued that salvation comes through faith in Christ alone, not through works of the Law. (Brave AI summary)

The law of slavery, the yoke of bondage (Law of Moses), with its requirements for sabbaths, holy days, dietary laws, and new moons, is what Judaizers want to impose on Christians. Paul commanded the Christians to ignore the Judaizers. Colossians 2:16

Acts 15:10
Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke (Law of Moses) on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Law of Moses).

Romans 6:15
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law
(of Moses) but under grace? Certainly not!

Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death
(Law of Moses).

It does not say that Paul went into the synagogues on Saturdays to worship.

It says that he went into the synagogue on the Jewish Sabbath day to persuade the practicing Jews and the devout Gentile converts to Judaism to accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah because he had fulfilled their covenant (Law of Moses). Because their Law of Moses had been fulfilled, it was now obsolete. Hebrews 8:13

There is now a new covenant in force for all believers, both Jew and Gentile. Jeremiah 31:31

Acts 13:13-19 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem; 14 but they passed on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia. And on the sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. 15 After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it.” 16 So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said:.........
42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles
(converts to Judaism) begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Acts 17:17 Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great company believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.
(Greek converts to Judaism) Acts 13:43

Paul tries then to persuade them, using their own Law of Moses prophecy scriptures from generations past, that Jesus Christ is their long-awaited Messiah.

Acts 15:21
For from early generations Moses has had in every city those who preach him, for he is read every sabbath in the synagogues.

In other words, Jesus Christ, their Messiah, had been prophesied in the Jewish synagogues every Sabbath day for many generations.

Paul is now telling them in their synagogues on their Sabbath that Jesus Christ is their prophesied Messiah and that they should follow his new covenant.

Paul worshiped with other Christians on the first day of every week. Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2

You will not be convincing anyone who truly understands Acts 13 to worship on the Saturday Sabbath days commanded under the first covenant Law of Moses. The Law of Moses, the first covenant, is no longer in force. It was made obsolete by Jesus' new covenant with its Sunday worship law. Hebrews 7:12

So do you recognize that the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ are fully God, and that the Son and Word is fully Man, having in His incarnation put on our humanity and united it to His divinity without change, confusion, separation or division?

Ample evidence from history shows that the celebration of Sunday originated from pagan practices of SUN WORSHIP. In March of 321 A.D., the Roman Emperor Constantine, who was at first a sun-worshiper and later a Christian convert, issued the first decree declaring Sunday to be a legal day of rest. In 336 A.D., the Roman Catholic Church officially changed the observance of Sabbath to Sunday for political and economic expediency. Since then, the original Sabbath gradually gave way to Sunday observance and the practice remains to this day.

The complete passage subtitled Origin of Sunday Worship from True Jesus Church titled: Our Basic Beliefs - an Introductory Brochure contains two paragraphs:

"Ample evidence from history shows that the celebration of Sunday originated from pagan practices of sun worship.

The biblical Sabbath, however, is and has always been on the seventh day of the week, or Saturday. Despite the prevalence of Sunday worship in Christendom, we must look to the Bible as our authority and keep the seventh-day Sabbath ordained by God."

So do you recognize that the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ are fully God, and that the Son and Word is fully Man, having in His incarnation put on our humanity and united it to His divinity without change, confusion, separation or division?
You haven't copy and paste scriptures and verses yet, so I understand what you saying.

You want to continue practicing Roman Christianity that on you, but there not not one Bible verse or scripture that will help you. Christianity | Definition, Origin, History, Beliefs, Symbols, Types, & Facts | Britannica The Roman emperor Constantine I (died 337), a convert to Christianity, introduced the first civil legislation concerning Sunday in 321, when he decreed that all work should cease on that day, except that farmers could work if necessary. That law, aimed at providing time for worship, was followed later in the same century and in subsequent centuries by further restrictions on Sunday activities. See also Sabbatarianism; week.

Hx. Book, World Scope Ency. Vol. 11 'Sun Worship'

Sun's day (Sun worship) the first day of the week was established as the day of worship by the Catholic Church. Sunday is kept by most as the

Christian Sabbath day to replace the Jewish Saturday Sabbath. Caucasians (Whites) and Egyptians worshipped the "SUN" and attributed their gods as Sun gods.

The sun was the main god of the heathen even back as far as ancient Babylon. Since they worshiped the sun on Sunday, the compromising church leaders could see that if they changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, it would accomplish several things. Number one - it would separate them from the Jews who were hated by many of the Romans and who, along with Jesus, And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (Luke 4:16), had been worshiping on Saturday from the beginning (and still do today). Number two - it would make it much easier for the pagans to come into the church if the Christians met on the same day that the pagan world did.

It worked well. Pagans flocked in by the thousands. Satan's plan of compromise was doing its baleful work. The change was attempted gradually but many of the true hearted, loyal Christians were alarmed. They came to the leaders and wanted to know why they had dared tamper with the law of Almighty God! The church leaders knew this would happen - and they had an answer ready. It's a masterpiece. If a person doesn't know the bible well it sounds good.
The people were told that they were worshiping on Sunday now because Jesus rose from the dead on that day.

There's not even one verse in the Bible that tells us to do this, but that's what they were told. Isn't it amazing!

What law is it that we not under??

When Emperor Constantine became a Christian, Christianity became the state religion you remember. As thousands of sun-worshipers flocked into the church, it wasn't long before they had a dominating influence. Most of his top officials had been sun-worshipers. Because the Roman government was getting shaky, Constantine consulted with his aides and with the church officials in Rome.

"What shall we do? How can we unite and stabilize the government?"

The counsel of the church leaders was timely.

"Pass a Sunday law. Force everyone to cease work and honor Sunday."

That was it! It would satisfy the sun-worshiping pagans, and unite pagans, Christians, and the Roman empire as never before.

The year is 321 A.D. Constantine, yielding to the suggestion of church leaders passes the first Sunday law! Here it is, straight out of the record:

"Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the venerable day of the sun" Edict of March 7, 321 A.D. Corpus Juris Civilis Cod., lib. 3, tit. 12, Lex. 3.

In the days of Jesus, the religious leaders were constantly questioning Jesus in order to test Him and on this occasion a lawyer asked Jesus what is the great commandment?

Matthew (22:35) Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, (36) Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus reply was the 1st great commandment was to love God and the 2nd was to love ones neighbor. These were given as a commandment for man to love.

Matthew (22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

(38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

One should note that by following the 1st and 2nd great commandment they will be adhering to the 10 commandments issued by Moses. If they love the Lord they won’t have any other Gods before him, or make any graven images or take his name in vain, they will remember his Sabbath and if they love their neighbor they will honor their Father and Mother and they won’t kill or commit adultery or steal or bear false witness nor will they covet. This is why Jesus goes on to state that on these two commandments hang the law and the prophets. Because by fulfilling these two commandments one fulfills the law.

(40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus stated that these 2 commandments where the 2 great commandments however the following verses will show that these commandments were not new and that the Jews and Jesus was speaking to were aware of them. These were the same ones issued to Israel by Moses.

Deuteronomy (6:5) And thy shall love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Leviticus (19:18) Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Now that it has been established that man was commanded to love one needs to examine the scriptures to get an understanding of the love required in these great commandments.
