? Lol. No. You're bringing us right back to the original point that I've made before. In the eyes of theistic evolutionists, the literal interpretations of Genesis is not scientifically concordant. At last! Good, thanks.
So, since TE is not science TE claims are based on faith. Faith is belief in things unseen. Therefore, TE has no basis to depart from the literal interpretations of scripture.
I've said this several times now, but the core and fundamental position of theistic evolutionists is hermeneutical, it's not about science or scientific evidence or even our faith.
It's about things like genre and historical or cultural contact, and exegesis.
We could talk about a million concepts of modern science, but it would have no bearing on core hermeneutical concepts at play.
The debate truly has to start with the Bible.
No theory is ever settled. That's just science 101.As to gaps: To take the earlier example of a theory, the shape of the moon is spherical. As a theory, the gaps in that claim are minimal as we have repeated direct observations, all experts are in agreement, all evidence supports, none refutes. We can label that theory as settled science.
Again, scripture is written through an ancient Israelite context, the text says nothing about material origins.Take the plentiful evidence of microevolution -- deviation within a kind -- and scripture tells that story quite well.
11 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants[e] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind.21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
I tried to start off with this point and it sounded like you didn't really want to talk about it.
Are you ready to talk about the Bible?
