CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No other governor is in charge of one of the largest economies in the world. Plus, he was invited. You should be asking why no other governors were also invited.
You started by asking why he’s there and you didn’t even know he spoke at the event. Looks like the only part that made it to you was that he wasn’t being nice to Trump. Your sources left out his whole actual reason for his visit and focused on the only part that would get your attention.
And I’m guessing this bothers you somehow.
Yes, they could also use some tissue to wipe their noses. Those people need a good reality check from time to time. Glad someone has the stones to tell them this. Glad it’s my governor doing it.

For clarity. Newsom wasn't referring to those in Europe. His quote:
"'There are knee pads that are available to purchase. The last round of knee pads sold out, just as our law firms are selling out, many American universities are selling out and yes many corporate leaders are selling out to this administration, “It breaks my heart. People need to stand up.”

Lack of link noted - here is one with a link: Disclaimer - the most popular Governor uses the Lord's name in vain as he complains to the European and financial leaders he is addressing - it is in the article and comes under the CF guidelines, but I will not quote it.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum in Davos, is urging European leaders to "have some spine" by standing up to President Donald Trump.
In comments to reporters at the entrance hall Wednesday, Newsom urged political and business leaders to "get serious and stop being complicit. It's time to stand tall and firm - have a backbone."
“I can’t take this complicity. People rolling over," Newsom said. "I should’ve brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders. I hope people understand how pathetic they look on the world stage. I mean, at least from an American perspective, it’s embarrassing.”
For clarity Newsom was referring directly to those in Europe.

Good grief...it was you that started the thread on the guy. At least some comments have prompted you to actually investigate why he was there and what he talked about. You had no idea when you started the thread. So...that's good I guess.
And Dyokovic is involved rather a lot in tennis. That's why he's in Melbourne. Where the Australian Open tennis tournament is being played. And Newsom is involved rather a lot in California, the 4th largest economy on the planet. That's why he was in Davos. Where the largest economic forum is being held.

State officials promised to deliver this transit utopia by 2020. Instead, costs have more than doubled, little track has been laid, and service isn’t expected to begin before 2030 — and only between Bakersfield and Merced, two cities far from the line’s ultimate destinations.
It’s little wonder the project finds itself in a precarious financial position, fighting political headwinds, and deemed a boondoggle by everyone from federal Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to Abundance authors Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson. “In the time California has spent failing to complete its 500-mile high-speed rail system,” they wrote, “China has built more than 23,000 miles of high speed rail.”

That was like 10 years before Newsom became governor. And, for better or worse, it was the will of the California people.
Anyway, Newsom was clearly realistic about it.
He addressed it almost immediately after he took office, in his first State of the State address. What he said would change the trajectory of the project
“Let’s be real,” Newsom said. “The current project, as planned, would cost too much and respectfully take too long. There’s been too little oversight and not enough transparency.”
