A DOJ attorney asked a federal judge in Minnesota this week to hold her in contempt so she could be jailed and get "24 hours of sleep," according to local reporters who witnessed the scene in court.
Attorney Julie Le was one of several Trump administration lawyers hauled into federal court this week by District Judge Jerry R. Blackwell, who demanded to know why ICE has repeatedly failed to comply with court orders to release wrongfully detained individuals.
"I wish you would just hold me in contempt of court so I can get 24 hours of sleep," Le said in response to Blackwell. "The system sucks, this job sucks, I am trying with every breath I have to get you what I need." Le went on to say that administration lawyers simply cannot keep up with the mounting constitutional complaints against ICE.
Le's response comes amidst a wave of resignations at the Justice Department as out-of-control ICE operates with what Vice President JD Vance called absolute immunity, which doesn't actually exist in any kind of judicial reality.
It is the lawyers who are bearing the brunt of that assertion, not the agents themselves, as the judicial branch clamps down on blatant violations of the 1st, 4th and 5th amendments by ICE. --MSN
Either through firing people for having the audacity of doing their jobs, not telling judges to just you know what off, or DOGE, or just quitting, DOJ has lost over 5,000 attorneys or about half it's attorney staff. Now they are trying to plug holes with people who are out of their element (like the Lindsey Halligan). And given the amount of ICE lawsuits and defying court orders it's overwhelming current staff. The next admin is going to have a daunting task running this circus out of town.
