  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Rep Dave Min criticizes Leavitt's comments on White House rescinding OMB order

A first-term House Democrat is attacking White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on X after she sought to clarify a White House memo rescinding an earlier policy statement on President Donald Trump's federal funding order.

“Karoline Leavitt is a Fake Christian, like so many in this Golden Calf administration," Rep. Dave Min, D-Calif., wrote on Wednesday.

It comes after the White House rescinded an Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memo that ordered the freeze of most federal grants and assistance, which was blocked by a federal judge on Tuesday.

I think there are better ways than name calling to criticize a press secretary. Working for the current administration, she is pretty much stuck being the bearer of bad news, but she didn't choose the bad news and is not personally responsible for reprehensible inhumane Medicaid and other funding freezes.

If she is like most Trump press secretaries, she will head for Fox News as soon as she can--the typical exit path, except for Sara Huckabee Sanders, whom I am unfortunate enough to have to call 'governor.'

Maybe because she is Catholic and he doesn't like her?
It is not anti-Catholic to be 110% against defunding Medicaid and other social programs poor people, many elderly and disabled, depend on. I cannot believe that any Catholic would approve of the way these terrified people were abruptly left in the lurch, saved only by the gavel of a judge with a conscience.

I would never want Medicaid or other social programs defunded. To be blunt.

IMO, Congressman Dave Min is a relative nobody who was making a sad attempt to try to make himself famous by attacking Karoline Levitt with his heinous insults.

The heinous behavior of the current president provoked his statements.
He needs to learn "don't kill the messenger."
But since his values are obviously sterling, I am confident he will learn the rules of decorum some of his Republican colleagues have still not mastered.

Has there EVER been anything that President Donald Trump has said or done which meets your approval? You really want to excuse the heinous accusation by that congressman upon Karoline Leavitt because of your very apparent strong dislike of President Donald Trump?

Thankfully, no one is defunding Medicaid...

But even had there been some minute decrease for any funding in any program, this is not a reason to attack the faith of a press secretary.

Common decency is required.

Well, I checked Snopes, and it showed four kind things he had done and only one was false. Here, you can look at them:

I had thought that Fred Trump III had written that his Uncle Donald had stepped back on his assertion that Fred's severely disabled son would be better off dead and did some mildly nice things for him years later. I thought I heard that on a TV interview. But when I looked all I could find is that Fred III has an unbelievably forgiving heart and is the nicest of the Trumps. Nothing about his uncle.

I was asked to find some good things Trump did and, being totally stumped, did a Google search and found a few private RAOKs.
So why are you complaining? I felt like God must have looking at Sodom and Gomorrah and was happy my research paid off.
I can now unequivocally say that Trump has done at least three good deeds in his 78 years, maybe even a few more.

I found three verified good deeds, as requested. When asked in the future, i will readily admit to those three verifiable good deeds.
That's three more than I thought. Why does this make you angry?

Donald Trump is someone I’ve paid attention to for 40 years. He has always lied and cheated without remorse. He has simply worsened as a cult-like following grew. If any person could be labeled an (supposed to the) “Antichrist”, it would be someone like Mr. Trump.
Those who enable him are either cult-like followers or opportunists. Many evangelicals have fallen for his falsehoods, IMHO. Should I applaud Satan because evil people may make the price of gas lower?

She is personally responsible for her own behavior. She does this work voluntarily and is not naive. She is culpable. “Following orders” is not an excuse.
