  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's great! I was wondering, we sing a Latin antiphon at the end of mass, it is Ordinary Time and we switched to a different one than for Advent. Is that common?
I assume so, yes. Do you mean the one that is in the missal?

The Vatican has responded to the Society of St. Pius X’s announcement Monday that it plans to consecrate bishops — so far without Rome’s approval — by saying that dialogue is continuing and is aimed at avoiding rupture or unilateral decisions.

There is, of course, no reason for rupture other than bureaucrats in Rome who feel the need to end the TLM. If they get over that fixation, the real nub of the whole problem anyway, it's all no big deal and things could revert to the Benedictine Peace we had for a few years before pope Francis got involved.

My hopes are that papa Benedict's call for mutual enrichment could bring all sides into the realization of what the actual Vatican Council liturgical document called for. That might look a lot more like a TLM and a lot more like the 1965 interim liturgy and a lot less like the re-imagined and forced Bugnini liturgy that we got. My hope anyway. I don't know if there is much willingness in high places to actually try that though.

Then yes. Changes in the antiphon are normal.
Thanks. My question is whether most parishes sing Latin antiphons regularly? I don't get to other parishes as much as i used to.

From my experience, no.
