Insurgents in Minneapolis barricaded several streets this weekend with “ICE filter” checkpoints, stopping cars to check license plates and IDs to prevent federal immigration enforcement operations.

Call them militias or whatever you wish, these people want mob rule, they don't care for the laws on the books and are not willing to go through the democratic process in our country to change those laws. In my opinion what drives them is hate for our country, a country they view as being systemically racist and an oppressor of minorities. To me we are the country that conquered slavery, an institution which was present for thousands of years. Also in my opinion America's success is because our country recognized from the beginning that our rights come from God. You can bet these agitators want to pack the Supreme Court and institute other takeover methods as well. While law enforcement is a current focus I expect the targets will be broadened.

I know these neighborhood watch groups mean well, but they really can't block streets like that without a permit from the city. I hope they receive a proper remonstration from local authorities and learn how to harass ICE without causing legal issues.

What's comes along with many of these people is an attitude that they know best. They are very much against open debate or different viewpoints, you see this on college campuses where they run speakers with different political views off of campus. The use of violence does not seem to be a problem for many because they "know" they are right. As I've pointed out, the tactics are similar to those of Palestinians who threw rocks at Israeli troops. They try and push as much as they can, the predictable outcome to do so with 63 bullets and a gun, or to use a car to ram a government vehicle or ICE personnel (one or the other has been done about a hundred times) is that eventually someone will be injured or killed. After years of similar conflict our country fought a Civil War. That "we are right" attitude was expressed in the Fort Pillow Massacre.

This is the left in this country today. Chaos and Lawlessness. The police should be there and arresting every one of them. What they are doing is illegal.

I don't think they "mean well", they mean to intimidate. They're lucky they haven't been ran over yet.

Not to mention, what mechanisms would they even have for vetting people at their makeshift "checkpoints" lol.

What, are the hooked into the state DMV?

Oddly enough, Renee Good wouldn't have been able to pass their checkpoint as a result of having Colorado plates and ID.

Plus, not sure who else noticed this bit of irony on their sign

So one of their tactics has been to honk their horns and make a bunch of noise when ICE is trying to do something, but for their thing "Hey, don't honk the horns please, it's loud, keep it down, I'm trying to focus here and it's giving me a headache"

Given that this is the gateway pundit reporting this...I'm sure this is being exaggerated and is probably just 5-6 idiots doing this and it's not happening at scale, but seriously, they're going to get hurt as soon as they try to stop the wrong car.

I wondered how police responded. Of the roadblock in the OP CBS news says

“The approach to managing traffic was short-lived as the Minneapolis Public Works and police cleared debris and homemade roadblocks.

“A city spokesperson said in a statement on Monday, "Given the high-traffic and high-speed block of roadways on Cedar Ave., the City cleared the streets to ensure public safety for the neighborhoods and emergency vehicles."”

South Minneapolis residents create roadblock, defining it as safety method against ICE

Neighbors created their own method of public safety against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a show of resistance in south Minneapolis.

If you read the whole article pointed to by the OP, you'll see police responding, despite claims in some articles that they didn't respond. The article also says police were working with ICE.

There's a mention of 4 locations, but no indication whether police responded to others. You'd assume so.
