  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What "rights" are those that you're protecting? Let the illegals protect themselves. They managed to break laws to come here, and broke even more afterwards which is what they are being deported for. They can certainly figure out how to protect themselves without Americans interfering.
1st amendment right of free speech and right of the press.

2nd amendment right to carry.

4th amendment right to be safe from unreasonable search and seizure.

Oh, and let's not forget "innocent until proven guilty".

I, and many of our fellow Americans, will continue to hold our government accountable for their over reach.

An let’s face most of the American press (such as it is) has bent the knee to Trump anyway.
Bent the knee after loosing defamation lawsuits. It is called being held accountable to practice honest journalism. The last several years, this is what liberal "journalism" has been.

1st amendment right of free speech and right of the press.
Speech doesn't involve attacking federal officers physically. Alex Petti wasn't a member of the Press.

2nd amendment right to carry.
How how that violated?

4th amendment right to be safe from unreasonable search and seizure.

Oh, and let's not forget "innocent until proven guilty".
The illegals have already been convicted of serious crimes. Rape, trafficking, drug dealing, etc. Minnesota isn't big on incarceration. Just one reason why their police force in Minneapolis is so small. No point in policing if the criminals are allowed to roam free anyway.

I, and many of our fellow Americans, will continue to hold our government accountable for their over reach.
And our government will continue to hold criminals accountable for their behavior.

I wonder how some of these people feel about criminal defense attorneys. Apparently people who commit crimes don’t deserve any protection from the law whatsoever.

Are you attempting to divert attention away from the deaths caused by the illegals that ICE is trying to remove while rioters prevent them from doing so?
I'm pointing out that it's not about the deaths it's about prejudice against undocumented immigrants. "Well at least my son was killed by a proper American not some foreigner who shouldn't be here" said no sane parent.

As an outsider living in a country where carrying a gun whether visible or concealed in public is illegal as the emphasis is on public safety rather than self defense, this thread like others makes an interesting laboratory study in how one's sense of reality is compromised when the physical evidence conflicts with one's political identity.

Oh, so it's not about the deaths after all? Your beef is about federal agents doing their jobs rather than allowing the illegals to continue doing their criminal activity?

This might come as news to you, but the justice system commonly does have a prejudice against those who break the law.

I've just heard that in 2024 6678 guns were detected at airport security in the US: 94% were loaded. So with this "why bring a loaded gun to ..." argument why bring a loaded gun to get on an aeroplane, or go to a theatre show or a sports event ... Why is it ok to try to take a loaded gun onto an aeroplane in the US, but not to whatever you want to call this situation.

Pretti didn't break the law but his killer did. It was you who dismissed the killing of Americans by fellow Americans.

All press protections are applicable to everyone. Being a member of the "press" is not relevant as there is
How how that violated?

“If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you.”

That analysis, the NRA said, is “dangerous and wrong.”

The ICE agents have warrants.
The Supreme Court has long held that the Constitution's Fourth Amendment against unreasonable search and seizure prohibits the government's forced entry into someone's home.

As a result, immigration officers have had to adapt by making arrests in public, which often requires long hours of surveillance outside homes as they wait to nab someone walking to the street.

But an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press states immigration officers can forcibly enter people's homes without a judge's warrant, marking a dramatic shift that could upend the legal advice given to immigrants for decades.

The illegals have already been convicted of serious crimes. Rape, trafficking, drug dealing, etc. Minnesota isn't big on incarceration. Just one reason why their police force in Minneapolis is so small. No point in policing if the criminals are allowed to roam free anyway.

Go try to gaslight someone else that the people being picked up are all rapists and drug dealers. Nobody is buying that claptrap anymore after watching the lunch lady from the taco truck get picked up.
And our government will continue to hold criminals accountable for their behavior.
If that was the only thing they were doing, no one would be upset about it. Instead the administration is in the negative opinion side on one of their strongest positions. That is not happening because a bunch of people suddenly got "woke".

Bringing a gun while participating in a violent riot against federal agents doesn't indicate sane thinking.
One isn’t illegal and being pushed to ground and killed is not participating in but being subjected to a violent riot.

The illegals they are detaining have removed far more American citizens from this plane of existence than the federal agents have. Here's a nice sized list of many of them: List of Americans Killed by Illegal Immigrants
Here, from Department of Justice data, is why that argument is such a bad idea;

This is why El Paso, with the highest percentage of illegal aliens, is one of the safest large cities in the United States. You are safer in a city with many illegal aliens than you would be in a city without them.

That's like claiming that a rapist is the actual victim if he contracts AIDS from the one he raped.

I, and many of our fellow Americans, will continue to hold our government accountable for their over reach.
The major networks are now reporting the facts, and mentioning that the Trump administration made false claims about the killings. More republican officials are abandoning Trump in this, and some of them are openly calling for major changes in DHS. I'm thinking that Trump is starting to consider whether or not tossing Noem overboard will be necessary.

Is that your best argument for allowing criminals to cross our borders and commit human trafficking, followed by whatever other crimes they commit once they get here? If so, let them live in your own neighborhood instead of someone else's.
