When you've lost Greg "razor buoy" Abbott...

Abbott says ICE needs to recalibrate, work from different direction

Gov. Greg Abbott reacted to the latest events out of Minnesota and revealed that the White House "is working on a game plan" to recalibrate Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Abbott made the comments on the Mark Davis Show on Monday, Jan 26, while speaking on the podcast about the Texas winter storm, the state's upcoming primaries and the protests in Minnesota. When asked by Davis whether he was "concerned that ICE's popularity ratings are going down," Abbott responded that the White House needs to recalibrate.

"They, being the White House, need to recalibrate on what needs to be done to make sure that respect is going to be reinstilled," Abbott said on the podcast. "That's not an easy task, especially under the current circumstances, but I know that they (the White House) are working on a game plan to make sure that they are going to ... recalibrate and maybe work from a different direction to ensure that they get back to get what they wanted to do to begin with — and that is to remove people from the country.

...and Ted Cruz

“What I think the administration could do better is the tone with which they’re describing this — that immediately when an incident like this happens, they come out guns blazing that we took out a violent terrorist, hooray,” Cruz said Monday on his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz.”

“If you’re being told this is a mom of three and there’s no indication — you know, she’s not waving an ISIS flag or doesn’t have a suicide vest around her — escalating the rhetoric doesn’t help, and it actually loses credibility,” Cruz said. “So I would encourage the administration to be more measured.”

[hint, remove Steven Miller]

"A terrible miscalculation": Officials' response to fatal Minneapolis shooting causes anger among some at DHS

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Pretti intended to "kill" and "inflict maximum damage." Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino said Pretti planned to "massacre" federal agents. White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller called Pretti a "would-be assassin."

One U.S. government official, who requested anonymity to speak candidly, said top DHS officials were mishandling the public messaging around the deadly incident, making statements that were not supported by concrete evidence, before any investigative findings came out.

A Homeland Security official who works on immigration enforcement expressed concern about the possibility of "self-inflicted reputational harm" being caused by the "strong language" used by top officials following Pretti's killing.

"When we gaslight and contradict what the public can plainly see with their own eyes, we lose all credibility and it's going to damage our reputation for generations," the DHS official said, also requesting anonymity because this official is not authorized to talk to the press.

The Trump Administration is now threatening (using a Nazi slogan, no less) to kill everyone who challenges them.
I don't believe that's correct. There's no evidence connecting that phrase with the Nazis. But hey, it's got that ring about it in German.

Einer von uns, alle von euch!

People in the biergarten stand and start singing 'Tomorrow belongs to me...'

The beef is when a guy carries a loaded gun and willingly goes out looking for trouble. ICE agents have already been shot at. It's entirely possible (and I'm not saying it is a certainty by any means) that he may done that himself. A full-sized pistol when extended sites for longer range shooting is hardly a typical concealed-carry piece.
You assume he has gone out looking for trouble. You surmise (inspire of the mountains of evidence) he may have shot someone (either before or after it was removed by ICE from his holster). You assume a legal carry gun means malfeasance.

MTG defends protester shot by DHS and says people need to lose their ‘blinders’: ‘You are all being incited into civil war’

‘Legally carrying a firearm is not the same as brandishing a firearm,’ the former Georgia congresswoman wrote

“Imaging [sic] if one of our MAGA independent journalists or even just a MAGA supporter stood in the street outside a J6’ers house while Biden’s FBI carried out a law enforcement operation, home invasion, and arrest.

“Then Biden’s FBI goes to the MAGA guy videoing it all and shoves a woman with him to the ground and sprays them with bear spray then throws the MAGA guy to the ground as MAGA guy was trying to help the woman off the ground. Then Biden’s FBI beats MAGA guy on the ground, disarms MAGA guy, and then shoots him dead.

Greene’s comments represent the latest instance of her breaking from MAGA orthodoxy. Previously a firebrand Trump loyalist, she has publicly broken from the president in recent months over issues including the Epstein files and foreign policy. She stood down from Congress earlier this month.

Trump said he would start no foreign wars.

But he didn’t say he wouldn’t start any domestic wars.

But it is VERY questionable if they are following the law.
Very questionable to those who oppose the administration as vociferously as the media, the far left and their cohorts.

Controversial Border Patrol chief and some agents expected to leave Minneapolis on Tuesday, sources say

Bovino out, Homan in. Noem all dressed up and nowhere to go.

Top Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino and some of his agents are expected to leave Minneapolis on Tuesday and return to their respective sectors, according to three sources familiar the discussions, sidelining a key player in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

The move comes after President Donald Trump announced he was dispatching White House border czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis in the wake of Saturday’s fatal shooting of a US citizen.

Administration officials were left deeply frustrated this weekend over how Bovino and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem handled the fallout over the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, sources said. According to one official, Trump spent several hours Sunday and Monday watching news coverage and was unhappy by how his administration was coming across.

Bovino, who became the face of Trump’s immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota, made matters worse by claiming Pretti intended to “massacre” federal agents.

Aides were also irked after Noem labeled Pretti a “domestic terrorist” and accused him of brandishing his legally owned firearm, a claim that wasn’t backed up by video evidence.

Making Homan the administration’s point person in Minneapolis is also seen as a slight to Noem, who has been engaged in a power struggle with the border czar for months.

I don't see any harassment except from ICE, and I've seen multiple camera angles.
Use your selective still shot to try to support a false narrative. Watch the video and see where your hero committed a felony by interfering with an ICE agent’s interaction with a woman. He illegally put his hands on an ICE agent which started the chain of events that cost his life.

You can’t tell from that video if he touched the ICE agent at all. Also the commenter makes a lot of unverifiable assumptions about any words exchanged.

Edit: I just watched video from inside the white car parked right there in the video. You can see from that angle that he never touches the agent and in fact backs away with both hands up and away from the agent. Immediately after that the agent pepper sprays his face.

Questionable enough that now Trump will allow some evidence sharing with local law, and Bovino and some agents are having to leave Minnesota.

Another reason to question the tactics of ICE:

A Myanmar refugee nursing a five-month-old, arrested and shipped to Texas. A Mexican man who sustained severe skull injuries during an arrest by ICE and was shackled in the hospital against doctors’ wishes. A Kenyan woman detained after picking up seizure medication. A Ukrainian refugee arrested for no apparent reason.
In other words, an ordinary weekend for federal judges in Minnesota during Operation Metro Surge, the Trump administration’s mass deportation push in the Twin Cities.
The district’s seven full-time judges and 10 partially retired judges have been inundated by hundreds of emergency lawsuits from immigrants targeted by ICE during the operation. They’re working weekends to manage the backlog and juggling a crush of individual cases under intense national attention.
And in all but a handful of cases, those judges have ruled that the Trump administration violated the law, sometimes flagrantly.

These people are more concerned about the “reputational harm” for the administration and not the administration’s agents killing our citizens under questionable circumstances and then their leadership immediately lying and trying to cover it up. They don’t care about people being killed. They care about how this might make them look.

Good for him. It's insane that it took Alex Pretti's murder to have that insight but better now than never.
