CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"A DHS spokesperson confirms to @FoxNews that several federal agents had their body cameras on during the interaction that led to the deadly shooting of Alex Pretti in Minnesota, and footage from "multiple angles" is currently being reviewed by investigators," Melugin wrote in a Monday post on X.

Chris Madel drops out of the race for Minnesota governor, says he can't support "Republican retribution" in Minnesota
"I cannot support the national Republicans stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so," Madel explained. "Operation Metro Surge has expanded far beyond its stated focus on true public safety threats."Madel says he has seen a number of non-U.S. citizens who committed serious crimes removed, and says "he's glad" they're no longer here.
However, he goes on to say in a video posted to social media that he personally has witnessed significant racial profiling by federal agents in the Twin Cities.
“United States citizens, particularly those of color, live in fear," Madel said in a nearly 11-minute video announcing his withdrawal. "United States citizens are carrying papers to prove their citizenship. That’s wrong."
Madel joined a crowded GOP field late in 2025. That includes Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth, state Rep. Kristin Robbins, MyPillow CEO/Founder and fervant Trump supporter Mike Lindell, former state Rep. and 2022 candidate Dr. Scott Jensen, and local businessman Kendall Qualls.
Nationally, a growing number of Republicans are pressing for a deeper investigation into federal immigration tactics in Minnesota, a sign that the Trump administration's accounting of events may face bipartisan scrutiny.

Abbott says ICE needs to recalibrate, work from different direction
Gov. Greg Abbott reacted to the latest events out of Minnesota and revealed that the White House "is working on a game plan" to recalibrate Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Abbott made the comments on the Mark Davis Show on Monday, Jan 26, while speaking on the podcast about the Texas winter storm, the state's upcoming primaries and the protests in Minnesota. When asked by Davis whether he was "concerned that ICE's popularity ratings are going down," Abbott responded that the White House needs to recalibrate.
"They, being the White House, need to recalibrate on what needs to be done to make sure that respect is going to be reinstilled," Abbott said on the podcast. "That's not an easy task, especially under the current circumstances, but I know that they (the White House) are working on a game plan to make sure that they are going to ... recalibrate and maybe work from a different direction to ensure that they get back to get what they wanted to do to begin with — and that is to remove people from the country.

Greg is imagining that Trump has paramilitary forces in Minnesota to enforce immigration laws. He's now revealed that it's to extort personal information about citizens of the state. He's offered to withdraw ICE if the state complies with his demand for voter information.

Judge grants order barring feds from altering or destroying evidence in Pretti shooting
Judge Eric Tostrud’s order bars the federal government from “destroying or altering evidence related to the fatal shooting involving federal officers that took place in or around 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis on Jan. 24, 2026, including but not limited to evidence that defendants and those working on their behalf removed from the scene and/or evidence that defendants have taken into their exclusive custody.”The lawsuit was filed after the BCA said it was blocked from accessing the shooting scene on Saturday to collect evidence, despite having a search warrant giving them authority to do so.

That does absolutely nothing to support your claim that the people of Minneapolis are specifically trying to prevent murderers and rapists from being taken off the street. The vast majority of people being detained aren't even given a threat level by ICE.
Nobody wants to keep the real bad people on the street. Why do you keep saying this?
This is from Fox, so I can't see how you could reject the reporting: Who are the ‘Worst of the Worst’ being arrested by ICE in Minnesota?
'DHS officials say they have made more than 2,000 arrests in Minnesota since "Operation Metro Surge" began — that means a little more than 10% of ICE arrests fall into this category of being the "worst of the worst." A smaller percentage are violent criminals or someone with gang affiliation.
When you look at the overall number of more than 2,000 arrests in Minnesota, 5.2% of those arrested in ICE operations in recent weeks are violent criminals.
The data are similar to the findings by the CATO Institute, which showed 5% of people detained by ICE have violent convictions, and 73% have no convictions. CATO found only 5% had a violent criminal conviction on their record.'
So this huge operation to remove 'the worst of the worst' shows us that 95% of people DO NOT FALL INTO THAT CATEGORY. Both Fox and CATO reach the same identical conclusion, using figures given to them by ICE.
Now, let me just take a shot in the dark here. Let me suggest to you that the average person in Minneapolis is very happy indeed that those 5% have been dealt with in some way (and I say 'in some way' because ICE doesn't release any information about what's happened to them). And I'll take another shot here and say that what they are actually protesting about is the manner in which the other 95% of people are being detained. Including the elderly and the very young. And assaulted. Some of them actually US citizens. And some actually being shot and killed.
What do you think? Do you think that sounds a quite reasonable conclusion? Or maybe you've got some quotes or facts or a video or news reports that shows Minnesotans actually prefer murderers and rapists free on the streets. That they actually say that they will protest those people from being detained.
IF not then why on earth are you saying that they are? It has been said that it's to demonise the protesters. I can't believe you'd do that. But I'll leave it you to explain.
