  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, they aren't playing the victim. It's those who go online to speak in their place who do that for them. It helps fuel the appetite of others who want to go out and harass authority figures because it makes them feel important. It gives them videos to put on Youtube in hopes of "going viral". Maybe even helps them To feel justified when they go out and commit acts of public violence.
We already saw that during the BLM riots. The same people that started that seemed to be trying to start that up once again. All it did the first time was make the founders of BLM rich with multiple multi-million dollar mansions. But maybe the second time will be better (?)
How do you know that "it makes them feel important."?

Words Matter: No Human Being is Illegal

by Isabel Johnston|Published May 20, 2019|19 comments

Most conversations about immigration include someone referring to others as “illegal.” The US government officially refers to certain people as “illegal aliens.”[1] Many migrants are accused of being in or entering the US “illegally.” Regardless of whether or not a person has committed a crime in entering the US without authorization, that person is not illegal. A person cannot be illegal. While certain actions may be criminal, or illegal, people cannot be illegal. Although, in the US, it is a federal crime to enter the country without inspection, it is not a crime to be present within the country without authorization.[2] Thus, a person living in the US without status, or without a valid visa, is not committing a crime.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections released a statement regarding Bovino's claims that the target in the operation that led to the killing of Alex Pretti were not accurate.

The target had no serious criminal record and in 2018 ICE had previously released him.

____________

Minnesota Department of Corrections releases statement on Minneapolis shooting, federal claims

In response to the “misinformation” by DHS, Minnesota DOC said it launched a dedicated web page to provide “accurate, verified information regarding DOC’s cooperation with ICE.” DOC said this page serves as a central hub for information, including “facts, press releases and videos.”

This page can be found here. Lastly, DOC said it will continue to review facts carefully, correct the record when necessary and share “accurate, verifiable information” with the media and public.

I think something got messed up regarding the link to Minnesota DOC (it takes me to a page called crooks and liars, from MSN it worked). I think this is the correct one.

Anne Applebaum writes:
"In the past several weeks, masked federal agents dressed as military officers have killed two Americans who were peacefully protesting their violent attacks on immigrants and U.S. citizens. Both times their actions were recorded on video cameras. Both times, government spokesmen made false statements, directly contradicting the video evidence. Both times, the same spokesmen smeared the victims as “domestic terrorists.”

This is a tactic that I recognize: blaming the victims for their own deaths has long been standard practice in dictatorships. The administration’s lack of interest in any kind of investigation is also notable: They are now openly seeking to appeal to a part of the electorate that welcomes and celebrates violence, and to frighten and intimidate everyone else. The best account of these tactics came from Lydia Polgreen, of The New York Times. She visited Minnesota after the death of Renee Good, who was murdered inside her car:"

".....when I landed in Minneapolis on Monday and saw the size, scope and lawlessness of the federal onslaught unfolding here, I understood that Good’s killing was emblematic of its true mission: to stage a spectacle of cruelty upon a city that stands in stark defiance against Trump’s dark vision of America.

Thousands of masked, heavily armed agents, some with minimal training, have been unleashed on the streets of an American state. They have been promised near-total legal immunity by the president, effectively unshackled from any constitutional constraints.

They have been given limitless license to abduct anyone, not just the undocumented immigrants but American citizens who happen to look foreign, whatever that might mean. Even Native Americans, whose ancestors lived here long before anyone else, have been detained on the absurd suspicion that they are undocumented immigrants. They have roughed up local lawmakers, detained and jailed legal observers without charges, tear-gassed high school students, smashed in car windows of bewildered drivers unlucky enough to cross their path. Anyone who gets in their way — by protesting, filming their actions or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time — is presumed to be a
domestic terrorist."

Now It's tragic when anyone dies and my thoughts and prayers go out to this man's family yet let's not forget how we got here. The Biden administration flooded America with ILLEGAL immigrants and ICE is here to uphold the law and arrest them. The Governor and Mayor of Minneapolis have done nothing but demonize ICE, stir up hatred and embolden citizens to stand up against ICE and get in their way. All to spite Trump!

Sadly, I have not seen one tribute by a democrat to an American citizen who was killed by an ILLEGAL immigrant, but we all know that does not fit the democratic narrative or help them in their quest for political gain in the upcoming elections.

Why is it only one specific crime gets the dehumanizing label “illegal”? Why don’t we call murderers or unlicensed drivers “illegals”?

The cold harsh reality in American politics.
I see. The new party line is that shooting down American citizens for legally protesting or carrying a licensed firearm is good, but not spending state funds to hunt down undocumented workers is bad. This is why Americans have finally had enough.

That is also part of the democratic narrative. Americans have had enough with America being flooded with illegal immigrants.

That is also part of the democratic narrative. Americans have had enough with America being flooded with illegal immigrants.
Nearly two-thirds of Americans have turned against ICE and their tactics:
WASHINGTON, DC: Public unease over Immigration and Customs Enforcement is growing, with new polling showing a clear majority of Americans rejecting the agency's tactics amid an intensified immigration crackdown.

There's really no point in denial. Americans tolerate illegal immigrants because they build the American economy. You see, Adam Smith was right about the "hidden hand." A market economy is smarter than politicians. It's very well-documented that removing all illegal aliens would damage our economy and make us poorer.
  • Policies: We examine two distinct policy scenarios regarding the deportation of unauthorized immigrants: (i) A 4-year policy where 10 percent of unauthorized immigrants are removed annually over four years (2025 – 2028), with unauthorized immigration returning to baseline levels in 2029; (ii) A 10-year policy where 10 percent of unauthorized immigrants are removed each year for a period of ten years, ultimately removing all unauthorized immigrants and preventing the entry of new unauthorized immigrants thereafter. In both scenarios, immigration laws concerning authorized workers remain unchanged.
  • Budget: The 4-year policy would increase primary deficits by about $270 billion before economic feedback effects and $350 billion with economic feedback effects. The 10-year policy would cost about $862 billion before economic feedback effects and $987 billion with economic feedback effects. Besides lost revenue, these primary deficits include new required outlays that are in addition to the monies (about $170 billion) already allocated in the 2025 OBBBA for border security, interior enforcement, and deportation.
  • Economy: Not surprisingly, most aggregate economic variables fall. By 2034, the 4-year policy reduces GDP by 1.0 percent; the 10-year policy reduces it by 3.3 percent. By 2054, the 4-year policy reduces real GDP by 1.0 percent; the 10-year policy reduces it by 4.9 percent. But per-capita economic variables also mostly decline, including a fall in the average wage of 0.5 percent (4-year policy) and 1.7 percent (10-year policy). Output per capita also falls between 0.5 percent and 1.1 percent.

The upside for Trump and his friends would be a marked drop in wages for middle-tier jobs. More profits in the short-term, even as the economy would contract. But eventually, the wealthy would suffer too. Like a lot of businessmen, Trump thinks in the short term only.

The Republican Party narrative should be "obey the law or face the consequences".
If it was, Donald Trump would never have been the nominee for president.

Thankfully for President Trump, one third of the country supports him and his vision of a greater American prosperity sphere and one third of the country couldn't take the time away from their social media to vote for anyone else.
