  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

JUST ANOTHER KILLING IN MN
In the scheme of things, it should not be surprising that an invasion of 3 times as many ICE agents as Minneapolis police should produce three deaths. We should be thankful that there aren't many more.

Secretary Noem should be nominated for a fiction award for her statements regarding ICE actions in MN.

Today, a demonstrator was accosted and subdued by ICE agents. I make ZERO conclusion on whether this action was justified. I presume that it was.

The individual, a nurse and citizen. was beaten by several ICE agents. While on the ground he was shot by an agent. He subsequently died.

Secretary's Noem's account needs to be reviewed by one and all. She indicated that this was normal ICE procedure. Perhaps this is true.

I would say to review the bodycam footage, but ICE against usually don't war them. Thankfully, a video is available taken on a demonstrator's phone.

BOTTOM LINE
The MN police and their National Guard can handle the police situations. If there are federal warrants to be served, then the FBI should execute those warrants, and they will get the cooperation of local police (including arrest of those finishing their prison sentences). If not, the FBI can use greater numbers. ICE members are inexperienced and have had less than 2 months training. They should not be the ones to arrest potential criminals.

Fortunate ICE was there. They tried to disarm the guy but he resisted and tragically, defending themselves and everyone nearby, they had to shoot him. The suspect has no ID, but had a semi-automatic handgun with two magazines. A lot of lives may have been lost today but for the quick reactions of an ICE officer.

A man shot Saturday morning by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis has died, federal and local officials said.

The man was identified by state officials as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse and Minneapolis resident.
The incident marks the third shooting involving federal immigration agents in Minneapolis this month.

"Today, federal agents beat and then shot multiple times and killed 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a U.S. citizen, a Minneapolis resident, and a V.A. nurse," U.S. Sen. Tina Smith said in a news conference this afternoon. "Eyewitness video shows, once again, reckless, violent, and dangerous federal agents taking the life of a Minnesotan."

Oh please, he was carrying legally, he never threatened anyone with it, it was taken out of his holster by an ICE agent after he was already pinned to the ground, and once fully restrained and disarmed, they then shot him multiple times, most of those shots after he lay motionless in the street.

One life was needlessly lost today because of the aggressive assault by ICE agents on a bystander filming them, ICE then shot multiple times when he was restrained and disarmed, when he was completely defenseless.

It sure looked like he was resisting arrest to me. Why do you assume that these ICE agents, Democrat or Republican, are cold-blooded killers? I do know why Minneapolis police were not there to act as a buffer between ICE and the crowds by"de-escalation," it's because the mayor ordered that they not do so.

Writhing in pain after being pepper sprayed in the face and sucker punched with a pepper spray canister can certainly look like "resisting". Moreover, what had he done to justify an arrest in the first place? I've seen the videos of the encounter leading up to him being tackled, and he does nothing to deserve it.

I didn’t see any attempt to arrest, only assault ending in murder. I’ve watched the videos, Alex attempted to help two women who were also assaulted by ICE and was murdered after they held him down.

You haven't watched the video. The man was shown being held on the ground by 4 officers.

THEN, a different officer is seen taking the gun.

One second LATER, a shot was heard, and then 8 more. An unarmed man had been shot while being held down for four officers.

Yes, perhaps they thought that he was resisting arrest. That is why he was held down and beaten by four officers.

Resisting arrest is NOT punishable by execution on the spot.

Surely, ICE agents were still being threatened after they possessed his weapon. While holding him on the ground, they were so threatened that they apparently shot him 9 times.

The guy had two extra magazines and no ID. Who goes around in a city with that much ammunition?

ICE agents do.

Did he do anything illegal by carrying the gun and ammunition? Nothing was witnessed in his behavior that day that would indicate he had any intention for violence.

If carrying a gun is against the law, he should have been arrested.

If carrying extra magazines is against the law, he should have been arrested.

As MAGA folks remind us all the me, these acts aren't illegal. However, even if they were, the accepted punishment isn't execution by law enforcement officers.

Tragically, egged on by Walz and Ellison and Frey, people continue to think they can throw rocks and bottles at law enforcement, blow horns, spit at them, yell profanities, and physically engage law enforcement. They even bit off the finger of one of the ICE agents. Walz and Ellison and Frey, none of whom are originally from Minnesota by the way, do not have the best interests of the people at heart. They are pushing a political narrative in an effort to gain more power and control.

Helping another person who had been shoved to the ground, is a capital offense now?

Also I tire at the blaming of violence by our Government, on rhetoric from “the left”.

Have a good night and stay warm.

Putting yourself in the middle of a law enforcement action is incredibly dangerous, it puts everyone's life in the area in jeopardy. Again, Walz and Frey are failing to emphasize not to struggle with or disobey law enforcement. They should be telling their base that if you assault in officer, whether spitting at or throwing rocks or ice at an officer, Minnesota will see you are arrested and prosecuted. They also could tell them to keep their hands visible and not make any quick movements when dealing with law enforcement. As to ICE specifically, there have been numerous death threats against them, their spouses, and their children. So too bounties have been put out on ICE by Mexican criminals in coordination with domestic extremist groups. Minnesota officials can tell their base that on the other hand they will back them in a lawsuit if they are peaceful and protesting and any rights are violated. I have heard something along these lines once now from a Minnesota official, the Minneapolis chief, but that was only after his personnel were assaulted.

Should the feds be held accountable for lawless searches and excessive force? Fed officials seem to be egging the agents on to violence and chaos.
