CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sure. It was a parade in comparison to what we have seen for years. But deflection is a sign that you are loosing an argument. But because I am just an ignorant idiot, care to explain what January 6th has to do with ICE officers trying to reunite a child with his mother?

And the goal post moves get again. I am still patiently awaiting @Tropical Wilds to explain to dumb old me as how Jan 6th has to do with anything, much less how ICE is being compared to some 1930's European dystopia because they were trying to reunite a child with his mother who eventually abandoned him like his father did.

As the father and daughter were arriving home on Thursday, agents entered their backyard and driveway area, Kira Kelley, one of the family’s lawyers, wrote in a filing. The officers did not have a warrant, the attorney said. One agent then allegedly broke the glass window of the father’s car while the girl was inside.
The mother was by the door and stepped inside the house as the agents approached, Kelley wrote. The agents refused to allow the father to bring his daughter to the mother or other family members “waiting terrified inside the home”.
The two-year-old and her father were then placed in an immigration agent’s vehicle, which Kelley wrote did not have a car seat.
Lawyers filed an emergency petition, first reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune, demanding that ICE release Elvis Joel TE and his daughter. A Minnesota-based federal judge issued an order around 8.10pm prohibiting the government from transferring them outside of Minnesota, and soon after issued a second order that the government immediately release the girl into the custody of Kelley, her attorney.

Absolutely. Just came back in, actually. -12 and zero regrets. Little free library in my front yard has Hot Hands, some gloves, whistles, glow sticks, and other such things for others. Candle lit on my altar, doing an all-night prayer vigil/group, a disco nap, then going out again tomorrow. I am not intimidated and when my head hits the pillow, I will sleep the sleep of one on the right side of history.

If you think that being Christian involves encouraging life threatening reckless behavior, you are wrong. Just to be clear, i actually genuinely care about these people and I do not want to see anymore deaths. But I am not blaming the officers. Having worked with law enforcement, i would expect you to know better about what they have to deal with. I do not even blame the protesters, however, I do pity them. I do blame the democtat leadership fear mongering intended to radicalize and mobilize their foot soldiers to be used as political cannon fodder, and I do not want you to become one of them.

Yes, having worked in law enforcement, I know what actual resisting looks like. I know the standards they’re supposed to abide by. I know the training they (should) have to do their job and I see just how far short these ICE people are. I see just how many laws they’re breaking, how many rights they’re infringing, and I’m seeing the casual and cavalier attitude people have to the death of people exercising their constitutional rights. I know when the rhetoric of “if we are being led a tyrannical government, we have rights we need in order to defend ourselves” and the actual people genuinely willing to be the ones who stand in the way of the tyrannical government. I’m not surprised at who’s being quiet and who’s complicit, I’m just surprised at how quickly they fell in line.

no inconsistency here, guns should be banned, but you can't have a two tier system while you allow guns, can't complain about someone you hate having a gun, while fine with assault rifles walked around in open by the 'right' people.
