  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you so much for posting the link - the video shows the Federal Law Enforcement Offices trying to arrest the man resisting with violence - at the 20 second mark you can plainly hear his gunshot with the officers withdrawing and then returning fire.
It is not clear from the longer videos why he is pinned to the ground, as he doesn’t appear to be threatening in any way, but ICE officers spray him in the face with something multiple times before taking him all the way to the ground. The ICE officers block any clear view to if the man ever reaches for his own gun. He is shot , falls to the ground, ICE officers back away while one of them shoots the immobile man a few more times.

DHS has the narrative advantage for now but more video angles will show up soon no doubt.

If you're a Trump supporter, it fine to be armed. If you're not a Trump supporter, it's not fine.
Where is the wisdom in attending an emotionally charged protest with a fully loaded 9mm and extra magazine?

It looks like he is on the ground before he gets shot. It also looks like an ICE agent already had Alex Jeffrey Pretti's gun before the first shot was fired.

NYT: Live Updates: Federal Agents Kill a 37-Year-Old Minneapolis Man

The man, a registered nurse, was an American citizen with no criminal record, the city police chief said. Videos contradict the federal government’s description of the shooting, a New York Times analysis found.
Videos analyzed by The New York Times contradict the accounts of Homeland Security officials, who said that the man approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and the intent to “massacre” them. Footage of the encounter shows the man was holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when federal agents took him to the ground and shot him.

How many times must this happen for a civilian to fear for their safety and shoot back?
An infinite amount . Civilians are to obey all orders immediately, perfectly, even if they conflict with one another, remain perfectly calm when faced with agitated armed offices who are allowed to shoot based on their fears while civilians are required to perfectly control theirs. Also never forget, federal officers have total immunity.

What kind of gun grabbing anti freedom nonsense is this? I thought this was America, where more guns means less violence?

This is an extreme nonsensical analysis of what I said.

Why did you not address the question in my post? I didn’t question the legality of the possessing a gun. I questioned the wisdom of having it where he did. Most likely he did not have pure motives with the amount of ammunition he had.

I have now seen 4 different angles now and the damning one for DHS shows an ICE agent grab the gun from Alex while he is visibly restrained on hands and knees, unable to reach for anything, the agent with Alex’s gun then runs off with the gun in hand seconds before another agent fires the first shot. This was murder!

DHS’s spin on this killing is truly unconscionable and deliberate to vilify the victim.

*Edit to correct victim’s name.

Extremism in defense of liberty is no nonsense.

Why did you not address the question in my post?

Because it is lib gun garbing fear mongering nonsense. More guns means less violence! An armed society is a polite one after all.

I look forward to the investigation results by the state of Minnesota.
I look forward to the investigators being arrested for daring to question their betters.

The feds are refusing to allow them to investigate including refusing to recognise search warrants.

Why would you wait for the fake investigation of a commie, treasonous state full of Trump haters?
The DHS has already a full and thorough investigation. Domestic terrorism it was, domestic terrorism it is and domestic terrorism it will be. If needed, the DHS will invoke the "well established self invented" legal term of post facto self defense.

A Border Patrol member fatally shot an armed individual in Minneapolis on Saturday at the intersection of West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue.

Minneapolis officials said the individual was a 37-year-old White man, a resident of Minneapolis believed to be a U.S. citizen.

At a news conference, Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino said Department of Homeland Security (DHS) law enforcement officers were conducting an operation targeting Jose Huerta-Chuma, an illegal alien with a criminal history including domestic assault to intentional conflict bodily harm, disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license, early Saturday morning.

During the operation, another individual approached U.S. Border Patrol agents with a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun, Bovino said.

"The agents attempted to disarm the individual, but he violently resisted, fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, a Border Patrol agent fired defensive shots, Bovino said. "Medics on the scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene."

The officer involved in the shooting, according to Bovino, was "highly trained" and had been serving as a Border Patrol agent for eight years.

The Border Patrol chief called on state and local law enforcement to "help us coordinate to get violent criminals off the street."

Bovino slammed Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara for omitting the fact that the suspect was armed when they held their news conference earlier on Saturday.

“During the operation, another individual approached U.S. Border Patrol agents with a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun, Bovino said.”

This is a blatant lie from DHS. The videos showing what happened are growing in number and this man was approached by ICE agents while he was holding only his phone filming. ICE agents then assault him including what looks like mace sprayed in his face repeatedly.

“The agents attempted to disarm the individual, but he violently resisted, fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, a Border Patrol agent fired defensive shots, Bovino said. "Medics on the scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene."

This was not defensive, another agent reaches into the group of agents holding Alex down and appears to reach toward Alex’s hip to retrieve a gun, then, with the gun in hand, turns and runs way from the group just as the other agent shoots Alex, who falls to the ground and as he lays there, he is shot multiple times again. He was restrained, disarmed BEFORE he was shot multiple times.

There is no evidence in any videos, of various angles, that Alex ever brandished or even reach for his gun.

That's what I see. I would only add a border patrol agent is shown violently shoving a woman. The would-be shooting victim (Alex Pretti) attempts to assist the woman and then both are sprayed....
