  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Christians are expected to grow and mature in faith until the reach Christ-likeness.

Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

This process is facilitated by transitioning from the selfishness of the flesh to the selflessness of the Spirit.

Consider the biblical definition of love;

1Co 13:4 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Every time a Christian demonstrates selfless love (chooses to deny himself) in favor for another, his faith is increased. This is the way we become like Christ.

I think it would be difficult to give up the selfishness of the flesh without the trust (faith) that allows one to show biblical love.
AND WHAT I MEANT. is that DISPENSATIONAL teaching gives and promotes FAITH , and TRUST in. what Paul has written

about what. DISPENSAIONAL teaching brings a. believer in 2 TIM 2:15 to study to show thy self APPROVED

unto God rightly having no cause for SHAME RIGHTLY DIVIDING the word off TRUTH !!

Is what DSPENSATIONAL teaching does to all BELIEVERS and only THE TEACHING then teaching of. the APOSTLE of the

GENTILES. , Paul is the ONLY. one where anyone can grow in LOVE in the BODY OF CHRIST. !!

And groweth. only. comes by. studying what PAUL wrote in his 13 epistles and in. the book of HEBREWS. !!

And the HOLY SPIRIT HAD PAUL write COR 11:1. YOU become IMITATORS. of ME and. the ME in the Greek

is in the. GREEK , EMPHATIC. which means MEANS PAUL ONLY , just. as I also am of CHRIST !!

And you quoting Paul BUT how does anyone grow in FAITH ??

The Greek word DISPENSATION is two. Greek words !!

AND THE WORD dispensation are two words and it means LAW OF THE HOUSE

And 1 Tim 1:4 says nor to give attention to FABLES and ENDLESS GENEALOGIES. which. cause questionings rather than than God's

DISPENSATION THE ONE OF FAITH. !!

It means to increase in. FAITH. all have read how to learn what the WORD DISPENSATION MEANS are to words

OIKOS means LAW and NOMIA means HOUSE.

And to excel all have to be a DISPENSATIONAIST and when you study what Paul wrote you LEARN THE FOLLOWING :

# 1 The MYSTERY // MUSTERION. the SECRET. which was kept silent. in time pertaining to the AGES

#2 And ROM 8:9 we all have the HOLY SPIRIT

# 3 WE WERE CHOSE us for Himself in HIM. BEFORE. // PRO. in. Eph 1:4

#$. AND on earth we are CHRIST EYES , EARS , HIS HEARING and His BODY , his SENSE OF SMELL

in. other words we are CHRIST on EARTH. .

And there is a lot more , and my lap top can not contain it ALL.

The word oikonomos is also translated steward. If one considers the daily activity of a household at the time, most of the labor was done by slaves. The house steward would make sure everyone got fed and had the tools and work assignments for the day. He might be seen as the manager of the business of the house.

For Paul to describe himself as a "dispenser" of the gospel of grace makes perfect sense.

In the gospels much comment is made about degrees of faith (mustard seed, Peter sinking, etc). However, Paul does not seem to focus on degrees as much as whether one has faith or not.

Yes, we are the body of Christ on earth. Sadly, many bring the name of Christ into disrepute.

AND I am. sure that I know where all the verses that speak about the WORD OIKONOMIA and also about the one in. Luke

and there is Lukle 16:4. and one in. 1 Tim 1:4. where the translators used the word EDIFYING. BUT the Greek

word is really DISPENSATION. //. OIKONOMIA AND Paul also says that to be in. the FAITH you have

TO BE A DISPENMSATIONALIST. and since that GREEK word OIKO. mean HOUSE and NOMIA means LAW

what does that mean. ??

Eph_3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
Col_1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
1Co_9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

"house law" is one way to refer to the orderly administration of a house. The Greek is where we get the English word "economy" from.

The person who administers this orderliness would be a dispenser.

Tit_1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

The overseer is also called a "dispenser" or steward. This also speaks or orderly administration.

And I began. to teach SUNDAY SHOOL for adults last week and it will be on 1 TIM 1:4 and b. your faith

will only grow IF anyone will learn what DISPENSATIONAL , LAW OF THE HOUSE MEANS !!

Dan,

I would be cautious. Many people hear the word "law" and automatically think in terms of rules they have to follow.

An alternative view of increasing faith might be seen by differentiating between saving faith (trusting in the gospel Eph 2:8-9, 1Cor 15"1-4) and a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22).

The use of the word "fruit" with the work of the Holy Spirit implies a growth. Here the increase is not so much a matter of trying harder, but of not interfering with.

Consider the interesting verse in James.

Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

This seems to tell us that there is a principle that if we do not bring ourselves into alignment with God, we are unable to fully receive his grace. For Christians this alignment is in two parts. The first is to trust in the gospel enough to be saved. The second part is to let the Holy Spirit increase his "fruit" (including faith) in us.

Galatians chapter five details how we frustrate the work of the Holy Spirit by walking after the flesh (including pride). One might see that increasing in faith is a result of the work of the Holy Spirit as he is allowed as we stop walking in the selfishness of the flesh.
