  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Donald Trump has officially launched his Gaza Board of Peace, amid concerns from European nations over its membership and the potential involvement of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Returning to the stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday morning, Trump was joined by the board’s newly-announced members, many of whom hail from the Middle East and South America. The U.S. President said he was honored to be the chairman of what could be “one of the most consequential bodies ever created.”
The Board of Peace announcement comes a week after Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced the launch of “Phase Two” of the Gaza cease-fire plan, officially embarking on the “demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction” of the territory.

Gaza Is Entering Second Stage of Cease-Fire Plan, Says U.S., as Committee Leader Is Named

The U.S. announced the launch of “Phase Two” of President Donald Trump’s Gaza cease-fire plan on Wednesday, officially embarking on the “demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction” of the territory.
Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed a Palestinian Administration titled the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) will be established to oversee the rebuilding efforts. Wifkoff also emphasized that the U.S. “expects Hamas to comply fully with its obligations” and called for the militant group to release the body of Ran Gvili, the final deceased hostage. He warned a lack of compliance would bring “serious consequences.”
IMHO:

  1. This is what leadership looks like and the world is following - some complaining, but they are following
  2. Trump has brought together generational enemies and they are sitting on a Board of Peace
  3. The UN has been talking about brining peace in the Middle East for decades - but little to no action.
  4. The countries in Europe who will complain about the how - will be among the first to benefit from these actions
  5. The Abraham Accord will be expanded and strengthened.
  6. The media will either ignore it - or do as they have in the past years - degrade, accuse and disavow.

Peace is coming to Gaza!
Do you think he misprounced "beach?"

Too bad that so many of the innocent victims in Gaza did not survive to see peace, while other innocent victims have lost homes, health, limbs, and beloved family members. No peace for them. No beach, for them.

True - Hamas has been responsible for killing thousands of their own citizens in needless violence.

When the last Palestinian is dead or dislocated, then there will be peace. And Trumpenstein can finally begin construction on his new casino.
Who has turned down the last four two state solutions offered?

Is it true that Donald has appointed himself permanent Chairman of the Board with personal control of the board's finances? I read that it costs $1B to buy a place on the board.

Meanwhile, in West Jerusalem, Israel is bulldozing the UN buildings. Hurrah for peace! All hail the Donald!

He plans on being chair of the Board of (his warped version of) peace beyond his second term with absolute veto power and his dictatorial.clone countries joining. Trump can pick his successor. Kushner and Rubio are next in line. Only the crazy would join this madness.

Is it true that Donald has appointed himself permanent Chairman of the Board with personal control of the board's finances? I read that it costs $1B to buy a place on the board.
An unbiased answer from AI

The $1 Billion “Buy-In” Claim

This part comes from draft language that has circulated and been reported in the press:
  • According to draft text seen by outlets like Bloomberg and others, countries invited to the Board could serve three-year terms.
  • The provision reportedly said that if a country contributes $1 billion in funding, its term would not be limited (i.e., they would get what some outlets describe as “permanent membership”).
  • Reports also say the draft could imply that the Chairman (Trump) would have control over the funds.
But:
  • The White House has publicly denied that there is a formal requirement or mandatory $1 billion fee; officials have framed reports as misleading and insist there’s no set minimum payment obligation.
  • Even if such language stays in the final charter, this mechanism would be a membership/commitment rule for that organization, not a legal “purchase” of a government seat or an ability for one person to control a national government or formal international body.

So Is This True?

Partly — but with key caveats:
  • Trump has positioned himself as Chairman of a new, self-described “Board of Peace.”
  • Draft proposals link permanent membership to large financial contributions (e.g., ~$1 billion).
  • It’s not actually a U.S. law or internationally enforceable arrangement yet, and claims that he “appointed himself permanent chairman with personal control of the board’s finances” exaggerate the existing situation.

Bottom Line

This is a controversial, proposed international initiative — not a legally established government body over which Trump currently has permanent, unilateral control of finances in an institutional or sovereign sense. The $1 billion requirement is from draft language and reporting, not a universally accepted or implemented rule.

Unbiased truth from AI

What is actually happening

1. There is a new international initiative called the “Board of Peace.”
It’s being formally unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

2. Donald Trump is named as the inaugural Chairman of this board.
Draft language and reporting indicate the charter explicitly names him as chair, and he could hold that role indefinitely unless he resigns.

3. The board was first presented as a mechanism to help with Gaza ceasefire implementation and reconstruction.
That is the original, publicly stated purpose under a UN Security Council resolution.

4. Key figures named to its executive board include people like Marco Rubio and Jared Kushner.
They (along with others such as Tony Blair) are reported as founding executive members.

5. The charter draft reportedly allows permanent membership in exchange for large contributions ($1 billion).
This is widely reported — but described as a voluntary contribution for permanent status, not a literal “price of admission” required by international law.

Yeah but I think that includes steep discounts when they meet at this or that Trump resort. Probably

People say that if Trump cured cancer, people would still complain. Right now I believe them.
Say, when did Trump become an oncologist?

-- A2SG, does Mar-A-Lago have a medical school now?

The only president who promised to cure cancer was Joe Biden. When you make a serious comment, you will receive a serious response.

And, I wonder, if he did cure it, would the GOP give him credit for it? Somehow, I doubt that.

Seems to me my response was just as serious as the comment. It was a pretty odd thing to say, after all. Why would anyone believe Trump if he said he cured cancer? The man thinks windmills cause cancer, he's hardly qualified to perform research in that field of medicine.
