  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

New cellphone footage of the shooting death of Renee Nicole Good has surfaced, with Vice President JD Vance arguing that it vindicates the actions of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who shot her.

Good was shot and killed on Wednesday in Minneapolis by an unnamed ICE agent while she was in her vehicle, positioned sideways, blocking the road ICE agents were traveling on. While federal authorities have argued that the shooting was self-defense, critics contend that the act was unjustified and tantamount to murder.

A 47-second-long video, acquired by Alpha News and posted to X on Friday, shows the incident from the perspective of the ICE agent who fired the shots at Good.

Continued below.

FWIW, it’s a case where the state and feds have an interest. If possible an independent investigation is desirable.

Continued below.
It confirms what can be seen on other videos:

Several agents near the car, on in front of it. If Mrs. Good had intended to drive over him, she just needed to drive forward.
Instead, the drove backward, the turned the gear and went right of Him. At the very moment he was beside the car, he shot her.

The video may be used to argue that the ICE agent thought he should defend himself, but carefully looked upon (and compared to other videos) it confirms he was in no real danger.

If you look at all the videos, she clearly hits him with the car. Whatever she was trying to do, there's no doubt she actually struck him. The agent immediately fires on her, and by that time he is to the right of the car. It all happens very fast, almost in one motion. You're not allowed to ram a law enforcement officer with a car. A car is a deadly weapon, and that is legal justification for the shooting, like it or not.

Show me a video where I can clearly see that she hit him.

I think this front view most clearly shows it. But some people will never see it. Show me a video that shows she clearly did not hit him, since the ICE agent is being accused of murder. The burden of proof is on the prosecution.

There are videos in other threads, on this subject, which clearly show that she did not hit the officer. The officer switches the phone drone his right hand to his left hand. He then reaches out and strikes her hood with that hand, which allows him to keep his lower body away from her car.

It's not clear. The ICE agent may have been in the wrong but the videos are inconclusive. It's not clear if Good hit him or not. People are seeing what they want to see

I'm not saying that he was in the wrong. He just didn't get hit by her vehicle. The first shot would still be justified because it depends on what he was thinking. If he thought she was trying to hit him, courts would grant him qualified immunity.

No, you are seeing what you want to see. Videos from two different angles were synchronized to show what the other didn't clearly show. When synchronized, they show exactly where his body and legs were at at all times.

The left hand, with the phone in it, does make contact and the sound is heard in the video.

I've seen the synchronized videos and they're inconclusive.
I agree with the rest of your post

No real danger other than the internal injuries he suffered when she rammed him

I have certainly not seen any video that clearly shows that she did not hit him. If you have one, post it.

The narrator in that video actually says that you cannot tell if she struck him or not.

By the way, I have heard that the reason he was filming with his cellphone was because he had not yet been issued a bodycam.
Also, the reason the gun was drawn was because at that point Good was being placed under arrest for obstructing law enforcement. Besides which, it's illegal to block traffic.
The agent shouldn't have been in front of the car, but that doesn't give her permission to run into him. When you are behind the wheel, you are responsible.

That just shows that he didn't get run over. It doesn't prove that he wasn't struck by the vehicle.
They even conceded that they couldn't tell
The video shows that the sound, which the DOJ claimed to prove that he was run over was actually Ross reaching out with his left hand and placing it on the vehicle. Did the vehicle strike him as it moved away, probably, but that doesn't change anything that I've said.

I've said that the first shot was justified, though we don't know what Ross was thinking. The case can be made that he feared for his life.

What I've also said is that the 2nd and 3rd shots probably are not justified, because they came as the vehicle was pulling away from him and he stuck his gun in the open window. The 2nd shot aimed at an angle matching the head shot and the 3rd shot at a lower angle matching the wounds on her side.

Nothing in any of the videos reveal ICE officers placing Good under arrest. Screaming get out of the car does not place motorist under arrest. She was not told that she was being detained or under arrest.

I thought it had been determined that Good had been shot twice in the torso and once in the arm.
If the agent fired in the open window of the vehicle while he was on the side of the vehicle, no, that is not justified unless there was someone else in front of the vehicle.
I thought that earlier you were claiming that the vehicle did not make contact with the agent.
I say that can't be determined from the available video but it does look like the vehicle struck him.
Obviously he was not run over, Trump says many things that I wouldn't try to defend but I said it looks like the agent was struck by the vehicle, he definitely was not run over

Nevertheless, she was being arrested. That's why she was trying to flee.
