CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Donald Trump announced he is halting planned tariffs on Feb. 1 after "a very productive meeting" with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Wednesday.

They call him Chuan Jianguo, which translates to Chinese "nation-builder" — a mocking title that suggests the US president's foreign and domestic policies are driving countries away from Washington and pushing them into the embrace of China.
Last week, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made a landmark visit to Beijing — the first by a Canadian leader in almost a decade.
after days of meetings, the two countries' leaders announced thousands of Chinese electric vehicles would be allowed into Canada and made a pledge to reduce tariffs on key industries.
Carney said Canada's relationship with China had become "more predictable" than with the US.
An analysis of recent Washington manoeuvring by US-based think tank Brookings Institution concluded a common perspective among many foreign governments was that their view of the US was declining.
"Favourability toward the United States has declined sharply among allies, while perceptions of China's economic influence have risen," it said.
A recently released worldwide study by the European Council on Foreign Relations found more and more of the global community now viewed Beijing as an ally or necessary partner.
"Paradoxically, [Trump's] disavowal of the liberal international order may have given people license to build stronger links to Beijing, since they no longer feel the need to fall in line with a US-led alliance system.

Are you? Trump is saying that there was a productive meeting regarding the military (hence why the discussion was with NATO), but the USA isn't getting Greenland. Heck, there's no indication that any of what will happen couldn't have been done without Trump acting like a baby because he didn't get a prize that Obama got.

We're all against this monstrously idiotic stance he's taking. He's acting like a spoilt 8 year old. All he needs to do to get what he wants is to ask nicely. And that is completely beyond him.
He has serious psychological problems. There is zero doubt about that. Mature adults don't act like he does.

Translation: it's exactly the same as the deal we had before, but now Trump is going to take credit for it and fail to acknowledge the further damage that he's done to our goodwill with his threats and posturing.
