  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Minneapolis prepares for Saturday march led by right-wing influencer

At a weekly public safety meeting, residents raised fears that a Saturday march led by conservative influencer Jake Lang could result in Somali residents being harassed on the street.

The march, planned for Jan. 17 at Minneapolis City Hall, is organized by conservative influencer Jake Lang, who has been advertising the march on X. In a post, he called for “crusaders” to “take back” Minnesota from Democrats.

One of Lang’s posts on X takes a more political tone about the March on Saturday, calling for residents to “take back Minnesota” from “corrupt [feminine hygiene product]” Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. The post includes a video of Lang standing alongside ICE officers at the Whipple Federal Building, holding a sign that reads “We love ICE.”

Some speakers emphasized that they worry Lang or others in the march could try to provoke given he’s made Islamophobic gestures in the past. That includes a rally in Texas where he raised up a severed pig head with a copy of the Quran in its mouth.

Lang spent four years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He was convicted on 11 charges including assault for attacking Capitol police officers with a baseball bat. He was then pardoned in 2025 by Trump.

The [police] inspector emphasized his hope that the marchers and counterprotesters respect everybody’s First Amendment rights and do not escalate to violence.
“If we can keep this to words, that would be the best-case scenario for us,” Peterson said.

Jake Lang has already shown himself to be a very violent person who is attracted to chaos. A war of words is obviously not his choice of communication.

This years flag day /Trump Birthday /American show of force parade should be held in Minneapolis. They could have a grand "fireworks" display when they reach the State Capitol.

Jake Lang didn't have receive enough attention.

‘Prosecute ICE’ sculpture at Minn. Capitol destroyed; Jake Lang arrested

A “Prosecute ICE’ sculpture commissioned by a veterans organization and staged Thursday on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol was destroyed by a man pardoned for his participation in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Jake Lang, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Florida and organizer of an anti-Islam demonstration in Minneapolis last month, posted video to his social media account showing him kicking down several letters from the sculpture that had spelled “Prosecute ICE” to spell ‘Pro ICE.” That came hours after veterans held a news conference alongside the ice sculpture voicing their concern over the federal immigration enforcement crackdown in Minnesota. They also urged members of Congress to cut funding to the Department of Homeland Security.

Oh, he's about to have all kinds of attention:

On Friday, prosecutors charged Lang with first-degree damage to property, a felony. According to a criminal complaint, Lang requested and was granted protective custody at the jail. He also allegedly told authorities he was "exercising my First Amendment right to artistic expression."

"Complainant notes that the First Amendment does indeed protect artistic expression — the creation and display of an ice sculpture, for example," the complaint read. "The First Amendment does not, however, provide protection against damaging someone else's property."

Maybe he will make enough noise to have the administration lean on the state to let him out like they have with Tina Peters
