  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My sisters mental health issues seem to be getting worse and occurring with more frequency.

It seems it’s a constant struggle and she has full on breakdowns at least 3 or 4 times a year. Yesterday she went and told my mom she was demon possessed and would not be coming to see her anymore. Yet this morning she went to see her. Her husband got no sleep last night and trying to get a broken down mental health system to step up and take care of her and people like her is next to impossible. It seems since she almost succeeded in committing suicide things have gotten worse. Mom is becoming afraid of her and her husband won’t sleep when she does these things because of fear/lack of trust. Please pray for all concerned if it crosses your mind. :praying:

She won’t have any of it. She is very shut off.
i see no other means than some of you would gather in his Name as is written in Mt 18 19-20 :
19 “Again[d] I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

You know… she has insurance but even with that, the mental health protocol only allows up to 7 days in the hospital only to start the ball rolling again. Add to the fact you are dealing with a mentally ill person that can easily transform them into a chameleon. You can look up mental health laws to see what I mean. Even when she was in ICU after nearly succeeding in committing suicide there is only so much they can do the way mental healthcare laws are set up. It turns into a vicious circle. I mean, this is serious stuff and the mental health system has their hands tied given a lot of these unnecessary regulations. Every time I see a homeless person.. this is what I think about. And I know that It’s not an easy solution but is it horribly ignored. I’ve often thought about becoming a mental health advocate because this not only because it affects the afflicted but those around them. It’s not pretty and it is exhausting. It drains the life out of everyone.m in their circle. Especially when the afflicted is uncooperative. I just got a boxload of items from her that my husband picked up today that included every Bible and faith based item she had along with family items she wants me to take to the Mission I help here. It’s just exasperating. It’s always in the extremes one way or another. The relationship to this point on is nonexistent beyond me just trying to help her. My mom is scared to death. I have to admit that I do have some anger at this point on several levels. :(

Gosh that sounds so exhausting. Since she attempted suicide doesn't that qualify her for involuntary commitment? I don't know if that's the right solution but it seems like it'd put her where she needs to be: under perpetual care and a watchful eye without straining the exhausting you and your brother-in-law and scaring your mom, right?

No we can’t commit her. She has been there several times. Even when she almost succeeded in killing herself they only kept her seven days.

Wow it just makes no sense anymore, I'm sorry Michie. Be assured of my family's prayers though.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you're having with her health.

Does she take her medications?
She is known to go off of them. I really don’t know. She is very closed off and does not always tell the truth. I know she has been known to cheek them and spit them in the toilet.

And you what do you believe ? issue comes from illness or rather from possession ?
Are those two disorders not related? I sense we will see both increasing as the last of the last days grow closer. But as to their relatedness: all that God created in the beginning was good, very good. Evil - and every kind of disorder, physical, mental, spiritual - began and spread from the evil disobedience of sin.

As to praying with a person under the possession , or even influence, of the demonic - it can be dangerous.

A person I knew once has somehow become subject to the violence and hatred of demonic spirits, and I have again become greatly grieved by the spiritual poverty of some Catholic dioceses. A consecrated man, a priest, ought to send most evil spirits away easily, by the power and presence of the Holy Eucharist and prayer truly "in the Name of Jesus." But we are impoverished in the shallows it seems, and weakened by compromise. The Last Days will reveal many defects, thanks be to God, and will press us toward the simple and pure. And this is what we need.

And she may be suffering within her soul even more - many times more - than the suffering come upon those who love her. Jesus could see the beautiful man created by God, even in the costume and mask of the ugly and horrible face of the demon who had taken possession of him. We must remember that beauty, when we groan to see the mask of ugliness forced upon an innocent victim. May God rebuke the demon, we humbly pray, with love for its victim who is due our love.
