  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My older sister and her husband, my brother-in-law. Both of them told me they were atheists.

I know my brother-in-law is a hardcore atheist, but my older sister not so much. She told me in a way, like she thinks its too late for her to come back to the Light. I want her to know its never too late to come to Jesus and save herself!

Its like on Star Wars when Luke told his dad (Darth Vader) to come back to the Light and that he sensed there was good in him and he said: "It's too late for me, my son."

My older sister is acting like Darth Vader and I'm like Luke. I want her to come back to the Light of Christ and stop walking in darkness!

Please pray they both get saved!

My older sister and her husband, my brother-in-law .. told me they were atheists.
Hello Jacqueline, did they tell you why?

It sounds like your brother-in-law has thought it through more than your sister has, though you should continue to pray for him too, of course, including for God to give you additional opportunities to share your faith and all that it, and God, mean to you now (since He saved you and adopted you as His daughter). I have seen a number of outspoken atheists come to saving faith over the years, including several right here on this very forum :)

BTW, your sister is saying the same thing that I did right before the Lord finally brought me to saving faith in Him. Like me, it sounds like she is aware of her sins, that they are wrong, and she feels guilty because of them. It might help to remind her, therefore, why the Lord Jesus came here (e.g. Matthew 1:21), who He came here for (e.g. Luke 5:31-32), and that He died to save them, the wicked/ungodly, the enemies of God (who all of us who are now His, once were, yes .. e.g. Romans 4:5, 5:8-10, Ephesians 2:1-5) who turn from their sin to Him and believe, that is, not the self-righteous (who refuse to do so).

You may be interested to know that my mother, and all of the ladies in the (ladies) Bible study that she was a part of (after coming to faith as an adult herself), prayed for my salvation ~for years~ before I finally came to saving faith (at age 30), and WOW were they thrilled when I stopped by one day (during their study) to tell them what had happened to me (just a couple of days earlier) :) So, keep fighting the good fight Sister, praying for them and trusting/hoping in Him (and keep speaking the truth to them, in love, as often as you sense that God has given you the opportunity to do so  ).

Blessings to you in Christ!!

p.s. - I see that you are Baptist, so I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes about evangelism (from a well-known Baptist pastor) as a means of encouragement to you (it's an excerpt from one of his sermons, just FYI).

Hello,
You might find unsettling what i want to tell you, Jacqueline. Sorry, but here it is yet :

In my view, the only one missing actor in the star wars movie is the true and only one Savior that we, christians, believe to be so.

Now without any true Savior, there can't be any salvation, even from any filial or paternal, and thus human love.

I believe indeed Abraham didn't fail to love Isaac, however he tried and kill him, for he didn't deceive himself twice and came to fear, love and obey Him that required this sacrifice from him

You may however rightly reply neither did any God require any sacrifice from Luke or from Darth Vader in the movie.

I mean if you trust the movie which displays man can be a Savior, you seemingly forget christian aren't supposed to believe such thing

Gracious Heavenly Father,
Please help Jacqueline’s sister to understand that Your Son Jesus died to save sinners, including her, and that she is welcome in Christ’s Kingdom. After this, I pray for her witness to her husband as well.
In Christ’s Name,
Amen
