  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh no. A questionable media source does not like how one of the premier media outlets in the country framed something. How rare and unusual.

Everyone can see the NY Times reporting on this story for themselves. The NY Times is hardly premier, they have a history of anti-semitism and extreme bias.

???? So what they are saying is the NYTimes article of the account differs from Homeland Security. Yes, that's right, Kristi Noem's DHS whose agency just lies at the drop of the hat working for a president who lies like it's an involuntary muscle. Not worth one eyeroll.

<snort>

The NYT is one of the single most respected news outlets in the world. That a bunch of conspiracy theorists who think Kennedy is coming back from the dead to save them disagree is hardly a knock against them.

Yes, typical establishment journalism that takes a fairly even-handed neutral approach towards reporting claims that haven't been independently verified. Notably, the only source they quoted about the events that led to the shooting was the administration.

Your source, OTOH, is a right-wing rag the peddles in outrage bait, which you seem to have taken hook, line, and sinker.

The Homeland Security account uses inappropriate charged language (illegal aliens) designed to incite racism and hatred in their supporters. I don't read unprofessional irresponsible journalism By using charged words to incite anger and racism, their words become propaganda.

The term "illegal alien" has nothing to do with racism or hatred. It is an accurate description, saying law enforcement is going after "moms" or "dad" instead is meant to evoke hatred against ICE. If someone robs the local liquor store the press doesn't run a story with the headline "cops arrest dad of four."
Frey and Walz did the name calling to get their base angry. Look at the protesters, compare them to those at a pro-life protest. Where do you see hatred?

Oh it’s “okay” for government agencies to use vernacular language in postings to the general public!?

It seems like the “messaging” might be a tad “imprecise“, lapsing into politic-sprech.

Nah, I vote for standards!

The vulgarity, hate speech, and personal attacks on government websites, the character assassinations underneath the plaques of Obama and Biden in the White House indict the character of the president more than those he defames.
The only thing worse than the Trump disinformation machine is the revulsion I feel when I learn someone I know supports him.
I was raised better than that, and so were my three children.

“Pushing the boundaries” is fair game in all of government now…assert your “control” and the people had better fall in line.
This is called “ruling”, governing is something different, governing means basing oneself to the office, rather than being the mouthpiece for the President. The jobs are pre/proscribed by Acts of Congress, if Agency Directors deem it okay to editorialize to the favor of the current President, there’s “no limits”, that I’m aware of, off-hand.

For those who would rather not click on Townhall, here is the article in question:

NYT: Federal Agent Shoots Man in Minneapolis, Prompting Tense Protests:
The agent shot a Venezuelan man who was resisting arrest, an official said. Protesters and law enforcement officers clashed for hours, as city officials urged people to go home.

A federal agent shot and injured a man in Minneapolis on Wednesday evening, federal officials said, an incident that touched off hours of clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers and that came just one week after an immigration agent killed a woman in the city.
Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement that federal agents were trying to arrest a man from Venezuela who was in the country illegally in a “targeted traffic stop” at around 6:50 p.m. She said that he fled from agents.

When the officer caught up to him, Ms. McLaughlin said he “began to resist and violently assault the officer.” She said two people came out of a nearby building and, along with the man being sought, attacked the officer with a snow shovel and a broom handle.

The officer feared for his life and fired shots, striking the man whom agents were seeking in the leg, Ms. McLaughlin said. The agent and the man who was shot were in the hospital, she added, and the other two people she accused of attacking the agent were in custody.

So the article gives McLaughlin's account at the top of the article. It goes on to say that after the shooting, protesters showed up and many were unruly - it quotes the police chief saying they were unruly and some threw fireworks at ICE.

Chief O’Hara said the crowd at the scene was “engaging in unlawful acts.” He and the mayor urged people to leave the area near the shooting.

“They have thrown fireworks at police officers and at multiple times, gas has been deployed,” Chief O’Hara said.

Several heavily armed Border Patrol agents arrived in a large, military-style vehicle outside of the crime scene tape. Protesters swarmed the vehicle and yelled and threw snowballs at agents who had gotten out. The agents eventually retreated, and as they left, they fired at least two canisters of gas that made a loud bang and made it difficult for some to breathe.

One problem the Townhall article and the OP mention is that the Times article didn't use the word "ambush" which is true but absurdly trivial.

There's a real problem is someone won't read news just because the publication does not attack Trump or include disdain for conservatives. Homan is doing his job just like he did under Obama, yet because Trump is president the establishment press does a complete turnaround:
Realize Chief O'Hara was appointed by Democrat Mayor Frey, and that all 13 members of the City Council are Democrat Socialists or Democrats.
The mayor and city council together oversee the police chief.

So the article gives McLaughlin's account at the top of the article.
Other than the multiply reported fact that there was a shooting, everything in the section above that you quoted is from a documented liar - Trish McLaughable.
It goes on to say that after the shooting, protesters showed up and many were unruly - it quotes the police chief saying they were unruly and some threw fireworks at ICE.

This alleged "ambush" involves a "victim" of the "ambush" who does a shooting and then has buddies show up in combat vehicles. SMH.

Yes, I included that to demonstrate that the NYT reported thoroughly, without bias.

Well, not using that term is what the OP article was complaining about, so...

There's a real problem is someone won't read news just because the publication does not attack Trump or include disdain for conservatives.
Besides the obvious fact that I did read that demagoguery - news, which this wasn't, usually contains more facts than opinion - this screed was absurdly inflammatory. On the plus side, it did contain an actual albeit well disguised link to the news article in question.
Homan is doing his job just like he did under Obama, yet because Trump is president the establishment press does a complete turnaround:
Realize Chief O'Hara was appointed by Democrat Mayor Frey, and that all 13 members of the City Council are Democrat Socialists or Democrats.

And? Ohara gave statements against the protesters as one expects police chiefs to do which the NYT reported.
