CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm sure this is what Alfred Nobel had in mind when he sponsored the prize: a token to butter up powerful people with so they give you a shot at power.

She should have read some of the many Pulitzer Prize winning books that Donald Trump has written about business negotiations. She had a weak hand and played it. Now President Trump has the Prize and She will continue doing what she has been, not being President of Venezuela.

Venezuela’s Machado gave Trump her Nobel prize. In return she received a swag bag but no promise of support
A photo released by the White House shows Trump beside Machado, holding a large gold-framed plaque that appeared wall-ready, containing the medal and the dedication: “Presented as a personal symbol of gratitude on behalf of the Venezuelan people in recognition of President Trump’s principled and decisive action to secure a free Venezuela.”She was later photographed holding a Trump-branded swag bag as she left the White House – with little clarity on her political future.

I found it interesting what another did with his Medal.
- Dmitry Muratov (Peace Prize 2021): The Russian journalist sold his medal for USD 103.5 million in June 2022. The entire sum was donated to UNICEF’s fund for Ukrainian refugee children. This is the highest price ever paid for a Nobel Prize medal.
