  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why wasn't the left-wing complaining about "masked thugs" when Obama aka "The Deporter in Chief" was having ICE conduct mass deportations?
Because they weren’t going around harassing people on the street to comply with the law like some sort of red neck Taliban.

Why was the right wing at the time complaining about Obama not doing enough about illegal immigration only to now hold him up as the gold standard?

Thompson and his colleagues, the Times said, were upset at senior justice department officials demanding a criminal inquiry into any ties between Good and her widow, Becca, into activist groups
Looks like the people who attend school board meetings are domestic terrorists again.

The woman killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis last week served on the board of her son’s school, which linked to documents encouraging parents to monitor ICE and directing them to training.

But four legal experts who reviewed the documents for CNN said they largely describe nonviolent civil disobedience tactics practiced at American protests for generations – far from the sinister depiction of extremism and domestic terrorism portrayed by Trump administration officials like Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Vice President JD Vance.

“There’s nothing in there that suggests attacking ICE agents or engaging in any other form of physical harm or property damage,” said Timothy Zick, a professor at William and Mary Law School who wrote a book on protest law. “This is authoritarianism 101 where you blame the dissenters and the activists for causing their own death.”

Legal experts who spoke to CNN said it was troubling that federal officials appeared to be focusing on low-level violations by protesters instead of the shooting of Good itself.

In the wake of Good’s shooting, [former teacher] Rich said, teachers and staff members at the school have had their names and addresses posted on social media.

“They’re getting threats,” he said. “It’s a scary thing right now.”

Reminds me of the ICE List.

Because ICE was not behaving at the current extreme levels.

Many of the tactics are new and qualitatively different from previous eras. DHS and ICE are actively touting its break with tradition.

Many citizens are deploring these extreme novelties.
Which metrics are you using to define "extreme levels"?

Point of reference (from the other thread)

According to data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, ICE wrongly identified and temporarily detained at least 2,840 U.S. citizens as potentially eligible for removal between 2002 and 2016 (Pre-Trump).

According to the GAO (Government accountability office):

With regards to arrests and detentions of US citizens
1768507984887.png

In terms of actual arrests and detentions of US citizens by ICE, 2015 was a worse year than any single year of Trump's first term.

2015 appeared to be on par with the first year of Trump's second term (2025) as well.

If ProPublica is accurate about this:
We compiled and reviewed every case we could find of agents holding citizens against their will, whether during immigration raids or protests. We found more than 170 such incidents during the first nine months of President Donald Trump’s second administration. More than 20 citizens have reported being detained for over a day.

And to give that even more context, those arrests and detentions in 2015 happened without the same levels of "protestor vs. agent" that exist in the current political ethos. Had the same levels of agitations existed during 2015, those numbers could've ended up being much higher.

ICE have tried to be anonymous thugs, now those who commit crimes or abuse the public will know that they can be tracked down and prosecuted in the future.
Oh, you think that's what leaked identities will be used for...

First day on the internet?

We all know how much techno-anarchists love and respect the court system and legal process. They totally won't do anything nefarious with that information.

It seems that way because of the zillions of illegal aliens the last administration let flood in here,
Never happened. They couldn't make it over Trump's wall.
The same citizens who for the most part became staunchly in favor of illegal aliens pouring in at astronomic levels.
Hard for that to happen when Trump's wall is still keeping them out, right?

That's why following the rule of law is important. When the government decides they don't have to bother doing such things, or pardoning their mates who clearly broke the law, it's no surprise that people respond in their own way outside the court system and legal process.

On Wednesday night, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, both Democrats, needed to be stopped from "terrorism."

"Minnesota insurrection is a direct result of a FAILED governor and a TERRIBLE mayor encouraging violence against law enforcement. It's disgusting," Blanche posted on X. "Walz and Frey -- I'm focused on stopping YOU from your terrorism by whatever means necessary. This is not a threat. It's a promise."

The DOJ's #2 is calling state leaders terrorists?

The Department of Homeland Security issued an internal memo in November on how to safely conduct “vehicle extractions” that instructed immigration agents to “avoid unsafe positioning,” guidance that contrasts sharply with ICE agent Jonathan Ross’s actions last week after positioning himself in front of Renee Good’s vehicle and fatally shooting her.

Dated Nov. 3, the memo stresses that for “safe and effective vehicle extractions, de-escalation is key.” It also instructs DHS personnel – which includes Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents – to “always begin with clear verbal commands to direct subjects and communicate intent.”

Hopefully, he'll lose a few tenths of a point in his annual review.

All the better to invoke the Insurrection Act.
