  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What will you remember about 2025?

I'm sure we will all have very different memories. I'm not opening this up with the idea that I want to debate people. Only that I would like to reflect, and would like to reflect on the reflections of others.

Personally, 2025 was an amazing year for me privately. The word miraculous comes to mind. I have a fantastic team of doctors that made amazing strides both with my physical health and my mental health. After years of being disabled, I have returned to part time work. But that's not even the half of it. The improvement in my emotional state of mind has been... breathtaking. It's as though I have been sitting in the dark, and someone came and opened the door, and the light is streaming in. I think I will look back at 2025 as the year when the butterfly emerged from the chrysalis.

In stark contrast, what I have seen go on in the world around me has been terrifying. I have watched my country slip deeper into tyranny and empire. I have wept over the middle east. I have been witness to a rise in demonization of "the other" to a degree I previously only read about in books.

Some of that has hit me personally in a very real and deeply frightening way. The rise in antisemitism has been going on for many years, but 2025 was particularly bad. We had the firebombing of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s home during Passover, a politician who had made his Conservative Judaism an integral part of his political identity. On Yom Kippur, a terrorist drove his car into a crowd outside a Manchester synagogue before continuing in with a knife. It was only a couple weeks ago on the first day of Hanukkah that a father/son terrorist team shot up the Jewish crowd on Bondi Beach. I remember putting my head into my hands and asking my friend, "Are we ever going to have Jewish holidays anymore where we don't have dead Jews?"

Some day, my great grandchildren will be reading about this in their textbooks. I want them to know the truth. That's the reason that I filed a police report about the swastika carved into the wall--not because I think the cops will catch the guy, but because I know the FBI collects those statistics.

The day is going to come when my great grandkids say to me, "Bubbe, where were you when the Supreme Court ruled that Presidents need not obey the law? Where were you when separation of powers was thrown out the window? Where were you when Christian Nationalists were undermining freedom of religion? Where were you when Trump spoke of acquiring Greenland and the Panama canal and the American Riviera in Gaza and Canada being the 51st state? Where were you when he attacked Venezuela to acquire oil?" And I can say to them, "Here I am. You see me in this picture. That's me screaming at the top of my lungs, screaming my warning to anyone who would listen: No Kings."

I like the concept of your question, though some may feel your subsequent comments were overly political. That said, I would agree that a lot has happened in the world in general in 2025, much of which was unprecedented... including the whole situation with Venezuela and developing American politics. That said, there have also been very significant developments in many other parts of the world OUTSIDE of America... although the news media does make one feel as if America is the very center of the global universe....

My top memory of 2025 is the birth of our first great grandson. We had 10 grandkids which are blessings on their own right but the first great grandkid is just special.

I think I will remember how the world got crazier. Not better but more insane and lost.

Though I must say I have never seen such a radical change in the political world as the capture of a dictator. That sort of picked things up a bit lol. Made it a bit exciting at least. It was getting boring watching the same old non action on the political front.

Well, 2025 was an OK year for me I guess. Nothing really unusual happened, but nothing really boring happened either. It was just OK.

To me, 2025 was just like any other ordinary, average year.

I am hoping 2026 will be more exciting.

There were a lot of things that were used to try to use up my attention. The media can take a handful of events done maybe by not more than a few people, and make those few people seem like they are or represent the whole world.

I can see why the media would put Donald's stuff in every news outlet . . . so an American can not escape seeing his stuff, even by going to news places in the Net "elsewhere" than in the United States.

Donald is not the whole world, and "God resists the proud" (in James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5). If we don't like the product, stop doing what is helping to produce it. The ones lying and arguing and endlessly blaming someone else did not learn that at the *top* of American politics.

I have enjoyed how the Lord Jesus rules in any thing to bring His good things.

I learned that the only thing worse than the 45th President of the United States is the 47th President of the United States.

I learned that, in the face of adversity, I was more patriotic than I previously thought I was. I love my country far too much to be apathetic about the current course, and the ways in which anti-democratic, anti-republican, authoritarian forces are at work to dismantle 250 years of American history.

I learned that "Christianity" means nothing unless it is actually rooted in the Person, Work, and Teachings of Jesus Christ. And that the singularly most anti-Christian force on the planet today comes from those who warm pews on Sunday mornings.

I will remember that 2025 was the year that America died.

Long before that the day the music died.

I will remember that God is faithful, that He answers prayer, that His answers do not always come in the way we may have hoped for.

I will remember 2025 as one of the most trying and most rewarding times of my life.
And I will be forever grateful for each and every trial, as He has led me to a depth of trust and understanding that I did not previously possess, and was completely unaware that I so desperately needed.

I will remember that God is s rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, and that God Himself is my reward.
