  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There is only 2 options, Life formed because of God, or by random chance from non-living matter

Oh, dear me. Really? If that's the rock bottom, primary school level of argument that's going to be presented then we are all literally wasting our time here.

I was explaining something to my grandkids a few weeks ago and my grandaughter literally said 'How do you know? You weren't there!' She was quite pleased with herself. Her brother, 4 years her senior, had to explain to her why that was a nonsensical thing to say. Now she understands.

It's strange how former children grow out of that understanding before the work for a creationist ministry.

There is no person on this Earth that has ever observed life from non-life nor anyone who has produced life from non-life.
Yeah there is. Trivially so. Plants take in non-living atmospheric carbon and build cellulose.

You picking a particular example that I do not disbelieve is not relevant to the cause of life which no one has direct evidence for.
Yeah it does. It shows your stated belief is clearly wrong.

I didn't say simple subjects either. I said complex subjects that are not well established. Your example is very simple.
Goal posts adrift, Captain!

I'd be writing a full on novel and surpassing word count restrictions if I attempted to fully elaborate on the rest of it.
So you can’t explain it? Does it feel right though?

I'm glad to hear you say that. They are trusting it nonetheless and believing it just the same as I believe what I cannot prove.
Not so. The position of a science is always tentative. There is always new information that could overturn an established belief.

Do you acknowledge that new information could arrive that could upturn your belief in Christianity?

If a tornado went through a junkyard, what are the chances it assembles a fully functional plane? what if it went through the junkyard a trillion times? This is the analogy I am going to use when people say we were created by complete randomness.
The origin of life would not explain how we were created. Our physical creaton, as Darwin showed, was not by random processes. It would be wrong, and an affront to God, however, if one were to declare that divine providence could happy by random processes.

look at evolutionist, they say to have vision you need to first get a light sensitive cell....
well, in the correct place that the animal needs it just popped an light sensitive cell? how?
Can you feel sunlight on your skin? On a bright sunny summer day, walk, from shade to sunlight; you'll notice it. So there's a start. If the cells are pigmented darker, they would be more sensitive to the light. Here's steps in vision evolution, all actually still existing in various animals:

Bah, we have a soul anyway, that alone destroys evolution.
It clearly means God put in in there like he wanted how he wanted.
How do you know we have a soul? I assume by "soul" you are intending to refer to a non-physical "part" of the human being that inhabits their body.

I see no reason, even from a Biblical perspective, to believe in the existence of a soul of this kind. Yes, the scriptures do use the word "soul", but I suggest it is not intended to denote the kind of thing you're probably thinking of.

And from a strictly naturalistic perspective, again, I see no reason to believe in the existence of a soul in the sense that most people attach to this term.

Although I hope we can both agree that Aretha Franklin had soul.
