  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't think I have the actual intention to stop the sins

Are you really going into the confessional with a plan to commit the sin again or are you just simply doubting your ability to avoid the sin in the future?

Taken from this beautiful Novena here:

Our Lady of Hope Novena

O Mother of Hope, obtain for me
the grace of true sorrow for my sins,
the gift of perfect resignation to God’s Holy Will,
and the courage to take up my cross and follow Jesus.

Amen

Try praying this novena and ask Our Lady for her intercession

What do you mean?
I don't think I should go to confession unless I plan to stop the specific sin.

Well don't overthink it. I sometimes feel the same way, I'm waiting in line for confession and I question whether it's valid because I feel like it's inevitable that I'm going to do it again. But that's not the same as attempting to receive absolution while intending to go out and do it again. It's one thing to be thinking "man I'm so weak I just know I'm gonna cave in to this disordered appetite of mine again" and it's another to think "Man as soon as I get home I'm going to do XYZ".

Here, I just happened to listen to this lecture today from Fr Dave Nix, the overall talk is on the effects of confession but at one point he briefly discusses validity and intention and things like that. It's 28mins total but it's a good listen.
