  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am aware we were told the border was safe, secure, and closed. I wonder how many were flown in at taxpayer expense during the Biden administration? And how many entered completely undetected?
I wonder how many of them are Christians?

Please. We and our children have a right to be protected from gang members and terrorists and hardened criminals. Tragically those with political ambitions exploited immigrants for their own purposes. Once the lawful immigration process is reformed we as a country should come together to let in as many as possible of those who love America and wish to become part of our culture.
Do you even know what the two greatest commandments are?

How twisted is this going to get? This is a clear case of using the Lord's name in vain. God help Jordan who is deceived and spreading a falsehood to the Fold.
Yeah it’s like the two greatest commandments mean absolutely nothing to these people.

But they’re not just deporting gang members are they?

Jordan is a politician and will say or do anything his supporter wants. But the shocking part is the so-called Christian consider the enforcement of government laws to be Lord’s work.
Sometimes the enforcement of government laws can be the Lord’s work but only when those laws align with His teachings.

Do you actually know laws, or do you improvise?

Individuals who have been in the United States without lawful status, even for a single day, are generally ineligible to apply for any type of entry into the country. Immigration and temporary entry application forms typically require applicants to disclose whether they have previously visited the U.S. and whether they have ever overstayed a visa. If an applicant indicates that they remained in the U.S. after their legal status expired, they are permanently barred from entering the United States legally.

I am not endorsing unlawful behavior. However, the suggestion frequently made by some conservatives—"go back to your country and return legally"—is either based on a misunderstanding of the law or is a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts.
They used to be able to remain in the country after coming here illegally while their paperwork was being processed as long as they didn’t have a criminal record. I know people who did this who are now US citizens.

The DHS announcement is not a law. Unless Congress has changed immigration law to allow unlawful presence to be waived, the announcement has no effect.
When I filed for a green card for my wife & 2 daughters we had to submit their I-97 forms which is literally their paperwork that explicitly says that they entered the country legally. If you don’t have that form you will not be approved for a green card.

And the presence of an asylum seeker becomes constructively legal if his claim of asylum is approved.

For those folks here illegally. Yet essential to our economy, aka essential workers. Just ask the farmers and those in need of labor how essential they are. For those who have committed no crimes, why not just executive order a pathway to citizenship?
Yeah that might be one way to get them vetted and legal status while at the same time not forcing immigrants who are here legally to vote democratic. Instead of making immigrants hate republicans they could’ve gave a helping hand and turned it all around. I think republican politicians in the upcoming elections are going to regret this course of action.

Yes they WERE doing both those things if you consider their perspective:
The Gestapo were rescuing children from the danger of the Jew. They were keeping them safe from the influence of gays. And the loose morality and depravity of the coloured man.
And they certainly WERE arresting violent criminals.
I've always been 100 percent against the Gestapo and you're not going to convince me otherwise.
Which coalition is protecting legal and nonviolent immigrants who are being harrassed by ICE?
It is obvious who is protecting criminals and terrorists. As to your claim of harassment, there are plenty of phones recordings of the agitators interactions with ICE. A lawsuit should be filed if there is any such harassment, but be warned actual evidence is needed.
Who isn't trying to keep children safe? Stop making absurdist claims.
The decision by the Biden administration to stop DNA testing to prove a relationship between a child and accompanying adult was chilling. Likewise the lack of proper vetting of "sponsors" and free transportation, (while lying to the public claiming the border was safe, secure, and closed) and losing track of hundreds of thousands of children endangered a massive number of children.

I thought this was blasphemy the first time I read it, and still do.
Many see things the opposite way as in this video:

It doesn't look like the radicals are toning down their rhetoric, instead they seem to be pushing for more violence. Right now the administration is focusing on capturing the criminals and rescuing the children. But at some point, if this continues, they will have to start holding people accountable.

Many see the opposite of what you see.

And talk about violent rhetoric and actions. I could play many a video on here of ICE agents bullying and threatening citizens but their language is so bad, I can't. ICE is acting like a group of thugs who hide their faces.

And about rhetoric, look at the president. He is the worst of all. He flames and slanders Democrats and liberals and anyone who disagree with him.

It is obvious who is protecting criminals and terrorists.
I bet it's not as easy as it seems. You remember how Hegseth, Miller and Bolino talk about ice; always this "Bravada/tough guy/alpha male" silliness? Their verbiage seems pretty consistent with trying to use ICE to terrorize the citizenry.

I gotta tell ya, I feel like if I lived down in the US, it would be a badge of honour to have a family hiding in my basement. In the same way my great aunt worked to undermine a dirty policing force..

There is no reason to believe the press releases from this government. Sorry.

I'm curious as to when the liberals will acknowledge and admit to the fact that there is a supremacy clause in the US Constitution. This supremacy clause explicitly states the federal laws supersede over local, city, county, and state laws. The Department of Homeland Security and ICE are enforcing federal laws.

How come it was all about state laws when it came to abortion, but now it's about federal law when it comes to immigrants?

That is because there are not any federal laws that prohibit abortion. The Supreme Court made that clear when it repealed Roe vs. Wade a few years ago. However, there are plenty of federal laws regarding immigrants and many, many, many other topics.

Because the courts told Texas that enforcing immigration law was a federal matter

As a general principle, which should have more authority: federal or state? What is the conservative position?

According to the US Constitution, that is a clear and easy answer. Federal government and federal laws have more authority than their state counterparts.

States cannot enact laws that validly contradict federal laws in a way that makes the state law enforceable over the federal one. Under the U.S. Constitution's Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2), federal law is the "supreme Law of the Land." This means that when a valid federal law conflicts with a state law, the federal law prevails, and the conflicting state law is preempted (invalidated) to the extent of the conflict.
