  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

MEMORANDUM FOR THE HEADS OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby direct:

Section 1. Purpose. (a) On February 4, 2025, I issued Executive Order 14199 (Withdrawing the United States from and Ending Funding to Certain United Nations Organizations and Reviewing United States Support to All International Organizations). That Executive Order directed the Secretary of State, in consultation with the United States Representative to the United Nations, to conduct a review of all international intergovernmental organizations of which the United States is a member and provides any type of funding or other support, and all conventions and treaties to which the United States is a party, to determine which organizations, conventions, and treaties are contrary to the interests of the United States. The Secretary of State has reported his findings as required by Executive Order 14199.

(b) I have considered the Secretary of State’s report and, after deliberating with my Cabinet, have determined that it is contrary to the interests of the United States to remain a member of, participate in, or otherwise provide support to the organizations listed in section 2 of this memorandum.

(c) Consistent with Executive Order 14199 and pursuant to the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby direct all executive departments and agencies (agencies) to take immediate steps to effectuate the withdrawal of the United States from the organizations listed in section 2 of this memorandum as soon as possible. For United Nations entities, withdrawal means ceasing participation in or funding to those entities to the extent permitted by law.

(d) My review of further findings of the Secretary of State remains ongoing.

Looks like another Supreme Court case is on the way. Can a current President void a treaty passed by Congress? I would hope not, because, a treaty is a pledge to abide by something. Some treaties have exit clauses, where you can exit after giving notice. If a treaty can be vacated on a Presidents whim then they are basically meaningless.

We need to get out of warmongering NATO / OTAN and form a peaceful alliance with the world's other friendly superpower, Russia. We could name it after a city in Poland.

I am not sure if I can post Christian ethics in this forum but here goes:

"America first" goes against the very two commandments given to us by Jesus Christ of Nazareth, love your God and love your neighbor. If "America First" means putting the nation's welfare above the universal command to love God above all else and to love your global neighbor as yourself, then it risks replacing ultimate spiritual loyalty with earthly political allegiance, potentially defying the very foundation of Christ's teachings. Think about it.
This "America First" doctrine by the Trump Administration is turning Christian ethics on its head. Don't kid yourself, this is the very path of wide destruction described by our Lord and many will follow it. Don't be one of them.
Blessings

I think that's the point. Congress is meaningless now as well.

Dormant but not meaningless yet?
No, done for. Letting Trump take the Venezuelan oil money for his own use was the end of the Constitution and the Congress along with it.

More coverage on the climate angle in particular.

Trump withdraws US from key climate treaty, deepening global pullback

Most notable among them is the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the parent treaty underpinning all major international climate agreements.

The treaty adopted in 1992 is a global pact by nations to cooperate to drive down planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

The UNFCCC was adopted at the Rio Earth Summit in June 1992 and approved later that year by the US Senate during George H.W. Bush's presidency.

The US Constitution allows presidents to enter treaties "provided two thirds of Senators present concur," but it is silent on the process for withdrawing from them -- a legal ambiguity that could invite court challenges.

Jean Su, a senior attorney for the nonprofit Center for Biological Diversity, told AFP: "Pulling out of the UNFCCC is a whole order of magnitude different from pulling out of the Paris Agreement."

The memo also directs the United States to withdraw from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the UN body responsible for assessing climate science, alongside other climate-related organizations including the International Renewable Energy Agency, UN Oceans and UN Water.

Have a little faith. Remember God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. God is letting everything go for now. At some point I believe maga will arrive, clothed in humility and compassion.

United States from the organizations listed in section 2 of this memorandum
Which of those organizations is in the best interest of the US and why?

Also you'll note at the end of the document:

The only thin Trump would have to do - to end all the climate change programs - IMHO - is endorse them 100%. The opposing party would drop climate change like a hot rock. They would be holding press conference on how Trump is wrong -
You have us confused for his supporters, who can careen from isolationism to neocolonialism over one weekend.

I have never know any of his supporters that were isolationist. He sure isn't - he has had more impact internationally in his first year than his predecessor did in four.

Does an isolationist bombthe nuclear facilities of a scofflaw nation in the middle east?
Does an isolationist re-negotiate and strengthen NATO?
Does an isolationist broker eight peace plans globally?
Does an isolationist actually arrest and bring to justice a narco terrorist.

You know what - Trump is a horrible isolationist.

It's a shame calling people out is against the rules, because it would be easy enough to do so.

But AI to the rescue.

AI Overview

"No new wars" was a central campaign promise of Donald Trump during his presidency and subsequent campaigns, a point he frequently highlighted in his public addresses and farewell speech. However, his stance has been a subject of significant debate and criticism, particularly in light of recent events in early 2026 involving U.S. military action in Venezuela
